Halo 5: Guardians [XO]

Okay so played this over last few days, up to mission 12 now on Heroic. I think is a great level of difficulty. Having a complete BLAST with the game, story is really kinda meh though. So far the story-telling is weak link, I thought Halo 4 story-telling was better.

Gfx is sorta a mixed back from WOW (sanghelios homeworld) to meh (low-res textures).

Loving it however and haven't even touched the MP yet.

Story in Halo to me is almost as ridiculous convoluted as like MGS is these days (ok, it's probably an order of magnitude less bad than MGS, but still bad). I gave up even trying to understand it a long time ago. They need to simplify, big time.

I thought the story was relatively simple and straightforward; then again I've seen opinions that it isn't so I'm not sure anymore.

To be honest I've expected controversy about the story choices instead... As in, it sorta takes an unexpected turn from all the setup in H4 and the expanded universe stuff, and the marketing was quite misleading too. Feels more like another setup for the "big stuff" that's now moved back to Halo 6.

Not reading any spoilers. Kinda curious how 343i did this time.

I just got back from a mini-vacation/scouting trip with Halo 5 in hand, but can't get to it because the damn NXOE update is stuck. I'm afraid to turn it off or reboot it because it says distinctly not to and it's been on the same progress bar for about an hour---WTH.

Let it finish. Don't brick your Bone.

Thanks. Still waiting with no change....at all.

I read on Neogaf, some people did a hard reset without issues, but I'm not that brave. I need to get some Halo goodness in tonight because College football is on for tomorrow. GO IRISH!!!!

Sanghelios was the star of the show for me level wise.

Heroic is perfect for me. I am too old for Legendary as I found no joy in shooting bullet sponges with "2 shots and you are dead" shielding.

Anybody else feel that Halo's and Destiny's gunplay is noticeably different in terms of feel and pace. Halo seems to impose a much larger delay between firing of rounds when it comes to non-fully automatic weapons while offering a smaller hitbox. I felt myself consistently wasting trigger pulls and missing shots in the first level before the mechanics started to feel natural.

I'm pretty sure there are instructions on how to deal with this on the preview forum. Log in and take a look.

Agree. Dying a lot more on Heroic than previous Halo games, but I'm sticking to it. I'm not sure how I feel yet about this squad play. I just completed Mission 4 and liking it so far---it's OK, but I hope it picks up a bit.

I played some Warzone today. It took a while for me to switch up my initial loadout and even longer for me to get basic feeling for the maps. I wasnt playing cautious in the least so I was dieing like crazy, but by the end of the third match I was surviving long enough to run out of DMR / BattleRifle ammo and have net positive K/D interactions.

The Boss battles reminded me of the public events in the Destiny beta. I hope there will be a mode in H5 where its purely PvE ala Firefight style.

This is going to be fun multiplayer with larger parties.

Still not used to making the most of the spartan abilities or the controller setup, but that will just take time.

I just completed Mission 7...loving it so far. The missions seem longer than any other Halo game.
I don't really notice the dynamic resolution although you definitely see the pop in...especially if you are looking for it.

Story is good, but I'll stay away from discussing it until later or start a new thread for spoilers.

Broke down and got it. Looking forward to a legendary run of the campaign in co-op.

Multiplayer wise, arena seemed ok after one round of play. Not really my style of play, but it seemed pretty well done as a basic arena shooter. My impression of warzone is that it sucks dicks. It's Titanfall, minus the free running and the cool customizable mechs. The way the card system is implemented is ok, I guess, but the player movement and gunplay is not well suited to big maps. It lacks intensity, in a big way. The objectives are kind of lame. My playtime with competitive multiplayer is going to be incredibly limited.

Try some different arena modes. Right now Breakout has a special place in my heart. Slayer is good but the intensity of breakout each round is something to crave for. Warzone isn't my cup of tea. I'll play it in huge parties, but I don't get the rush that arena gives me when the match is close.

Warzone is a big playground with no rules essentially. Each type of player can contribute to the game. It's a very good game mode for easing players into arena IMO.

Also, last note: arena is extremely good after you finish your 10 qualifying matches. Provided you aren't carried during the qualifier and you get placed in the correct area, each game is super tight. Love it. [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

Just made gold slayer last night, gold 2 for breakout. I got ranked matched with platinum as some point in my qualification and wow did I get blown out. Oh wow. It's a completely different league of skill. Can't imagine what diamond and onyx players are like. So for now I'm pretty confident my skills sit at gold.
