Halo 4

Correct.

Map strong points decoupled from power weapon position, with the ability to whore position and farm ammo drops, is a truly stunning level of bullshit.

Running out of ammo - completely - with nothing to fire at all and nowhere to go to pick up ammo - is true "what is a FPS?!?" level bullshit.

A vast array of instant kill weapons with broken risk/reward and no position related pickup is bullshit.

"Pay to win" perks and specialisations are bullshit.

Broken sound design - your ears are about as much use as waving a white stick around in a swimming pool - is bullshit.

There is so much bullshit in the game, I want to stop playing it. I only play it because it says Halo on the box, and because it has the proper voice actors. But it's not a proper Halo game; it's not up to the standard. It's like the episode of Highlander the TV series where some baddie hired a woman who looked like TV Highlander's dead wife to be special sexy friends with him so they could get inside his head.

Oh yeah, and Promethean "wall hack" Vision + party chat is like playing Counterstrike against a clan of shithheads back in 2001. There's a reason that wallhacks aren't considered good*, 343, but you don't know this because you don't play computer games.

Oh yeah, and Spartan Ops is like scratching the same scabs off your cock every week.

*Breaks level design
*Breaks weapon design
*Breaks risk/reward of reloading
*Break a large number of team strategies

343 lack the ability to balance these things under normal conditions, they sure as hell can't do it while taking Promethean Vision into account.

I bought Reach and haven't exactly enjoyed it, thought campaign was pretty bad. I mean, the beginning is great, you land with Noble team and the world is pretty good realized until you start shooting laughing pink midget aliens.

Halo 4, while still very childish at least had Forerunners so I got through the game somehow.
I hope 343 goes darker with next installment if they aim to keep story "emotional" and serious because I'm not in the mood of saving the galaxy from alien alternative to pokemons.

That's not the first one he traded in, unless you don't count Halo: Anniversary. ;)

I hated the story in Reach - it was like they progressively managed to take all the impact of Fall of Reach away and replace it with seemingly irrelevant and stupid events. Co-op was kind of fun though, and you could mix up the way you tackled certain areas.

Halo 4 was so depressingly point and shoot, with every weapon tuned for point and shoot (even the f****** wraith and fuel rod cannon). And teleport - the beginner game designer's enemy ability of choice - was always there to break up the flow of the gameplay just when it was least needed.

Reach at least felt like it had been made by people that had played Halo 3.

I really enjoyed Anniversary! I bought it basically for co-op Halo 1, and played it though on all difficulties with a Halo uberrfan buddy who ... now doesn't want to co-op Halo 4. Because Halo 4 campaign is a bit shit.

I wonder how well the DLC is selling? Personally, I have no interest in it because the only BTB map looks kinda lame, and I don't want to have to play the DLC playlist just to get it.

Spartan Ops gives kills and deaths. What do you want, to give pts? 10pts for a grunt, 50 for an elite, 200 for a hunter?

Yeah why not? does that sound weird to you? as the mode is right now there is no challenge to it even in Legendary (a big mistake IMO) with the unlimited spawns so why not spice it up a bit with scoring and skulls?

At the very least they should have given a carnage report detailing the enemies you did kill like in Reach Firefight. Pretty sloppy.

No way, you've traded in a Halo game?

I've never done that before. How did it feel?

I was just let down by the whole experience.

And as much as I enjoyed Halo CE back in the day, hack-job "modern" graphics and online co-op lag mean nothing to me.

:p

At the end, I would have had Cortana
reach out with her left hand to bring up Chief's right hand (his palm down, hers up), and her right hand would be hesitant until she made contact. Until she made sure she could do it. Then she'd lay her right hand on top. Then rotate the clasped hands 90 degrees. Hold his hand throughout. Then when she looks down, she can pull away.

Of all the spots on his armour, she had to pick his pec to touch first? Wtf is this. :D I swear if she were any shorter, she'd be copping a feel or humping his leg like a dog.

With all that armour on, his hands are probably the most "human" thing left. Or something. I dunno. She could have reached up to touch his visor, but that's not the same as with his helmet off. She could have reached out to touch the hands that have been doing all the work so far.

Also seemed strange for John to make a half-arm movement as Cortana backed off. Kind of expected him to at least move his lazy ass one step forward.

sigh. Friend tried to do split-screen co-op, and for some reason, there was a disconnection from live, and player 2 got booted from the game. WTF, it's a local game. Why does waypoint crash in-game? Why can't the terminals be viewed in the menu's ala SpOps? blah blah blah blah something something Halo 4 is a beta product.

Lets hope that they seriously take into account all the negativity that exists with the feedback on Halo 4 to produce a proper Halo 5. I have my doubts that they'd even bother trying. It's like they're inside their own reality-distortion bubble.

I hope Bungie's next game is very "Halo like". I prefer Bungie's take on things like game design priorities.

Just picked it up and played about 5 games of slayer, both 4 vs 4 and 8 vs 8. Seems like more of the same to me. Whatever changes they've made outside of having loadouts are pretty minor tweaks rather than anything significant.

Actually, not having ammo available on the maps is kind of huge imo. It is entirely possible to run your weapons dry in an MP match. Not sure what the thinking was here. I don't think it would totally destroy the balance if they threw a few DMR or BR spawns throughout the map.

Yeah, I was just saying this the other day in a discussion with Al. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because this was their first Halo title, but they really should make it a priority to prove that they are listening to their fanbase. There are some obvious design issues that a team filled with talent should not have overlooked or missed.

I'm hopeful that Halo 5 will be more of a return to the Bungie-type design, but at the same time, I'm going to be more hesitant to any claims before I play the game for myself.

I'm not sure what the reasoning was for the lack of weapon ammo on the field, honestly I don't have an issue running out of ammo too too often (I usually die before that happens :p) but I do recall one of the reasons they cut out the ability to pick up grenades (without that perk) was to minimize grenade spamming. I could be remembering wrong though and really no matter what, that does effect the "grenades, melee, guns design" that Bungie stuck to.
