Halo 3 legendary edition apparantly selling like hotcakes..

I think it raises suspicious though. It might be viral marketing.
Because at amazon you can order whatever number of copies you want and you don't have to pay until the game is shipped.

or it could just be that it is currently the most popular game on the planet? ;)

Man for $130 you can have a DS Lite! Sheesh... it's ridiculous, however it's calling my name

Most likely, not going for it thought, it's a rip and a half.

Yes, an unfinished and unreleased game is the most popular!

Forget about God of War II ;)

Based on God of War sales it doesn't even look like God of War is the most popular game with the GOW abbreviation, at least not in NA.

Anyhow, lets discuss Halo and not these other titles that have nothing to do with the Halo phenomena and how crazy kids are buying up plastic hats as if they were gold.

Damn you just beat me to it with the comment of God of War 2 not even being the best selling GoW title. ;)

And if none of you have a relative/friend who collects...

Disney movies with different covers.

Glass miniature display animals.

Star Wars toys.

Every single game related collectable from Japan.

Coins.

Stamps.

Sports memorabilia. I mean c'mon everyone has to know at least ONE sports nut that has to have EVERYTHING related to his favorite sports team, bobbleheads, gloves, jerseys, etc...

Etc...

Yeah, then you wouldn't understand the appeal of the Legendary Edition. It was not released for people like you...or me. It was released for people that like to collect things. For people that like to say, "Look what I've got that almost noone else does." For people that MUST have everything they can get related to favorite "thing."

Hell I have a friend who has every single action figure ever made for Diablo, Diablo 2, Warcraft, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Starcraft. :p Not to mention every single Lego Star Wars set ever released. And if he was a fan of Halo, I'm sure he'd have pre-ordered this in a heartbeat.

I'm sure most of you have bought things that friends of mine would consider you absolutely STUPID for buying. Like...uh...video cards worth over 200 dollars. :p At least one of my friends considers me insane for having a 500 dollar video card.

Regards,
SB

Moral of the story. Everyone buys something that someone will consider crazy/stupid/ingnorant/whatever. But try to keep it to yourself m'kay? ;)

Cmon. This is brilliant.

Your telling me the same amount of blokes woulnd't sign up/pre order MGS4 Legendary Edition inside a replica Snake head with 3 Mini BR discs hidden behind the headband?

Yeah, but you don't see the standard or limited collector's edition being pre-ordered like crazy. This massive pre-ordering is for the helmet and other bonus items because they know it's going to be in a lot lower supply relative to the other editions (a.k.a. eBay time). People aren't pre-ordering just for the game.

I totally agree with you then

I think when they announced the game at $100 it didn't climb to the top as it did with $130.
It might just be viral marketing. You can pre-order 1000000 copies without even pay one penny.

I buy just about everything from Amazon which is the reason I bought Amazon prime, free two day shipping, 3.99 overnight shipping (per item), 4.99 SATURDAY OVERNIGHT shipping (per item), 10% off all my HD DVDs, no taxes, and easily some of the best packing. Is there some reason I shouldn't buy from them?

Games. They are almost always MSRP at Amazon. You can buy most new games at a local store much cheaper during sales. My friend picked up GRAW2 for $35. I buy tons of books and movies with Amazon though.

I do not see the sense in spending money on any "collectors" items. Especially when you're spending another $70 for a plastic helmet.

Me neither. But I don't deem my opinion so important that I'll call people idiots because they want to spend their hard earned money on a collectors item.

Maybe it was a bit harsh, I'll just say that I don't believe its the smartest thing a person can do.

Tell me how partaking in the past time of videogames in any fashion can be labelled as "smart"? You can apply your argument to videogames in general as not all people find value in this hobby. If people find value in a lengendary sku for $129.00 then so be it.

Did I say it was? No I didn't. Nor do I excuse myself from ever doing stupid things, in fact I do them on a very regular basis. I am human.

People want, let them pay for it. Seriously, the market works in the consumers favor if the consumer is not an idiot. Guess what this just proves? Exactly.

Awesome for them, exploiting the next idiot in line.

You don't have to say it, its inferred. You call the act of buying a lengendary sku as "not the smartest" and refer to consumers in this case as "idiots". If you refer to one act as "idiotic" there must be other acts thats contrary in nature unless you find all vg investments as idiotic, but that would be strange since you are a gamer and actively participate within a gaming forum showing no hint of holding such belief.

I'm not a liar, I understand that I do many idiotic things in life and I take part in those things on a regular basis. You only took it the way you did because of the way you look at things, very different than my own. I am a misanthropic person, sorry if you dislike that.
