GT:HD will be playable at TGS, NOT GT5

...We'll just have to wait till TGS for more info.

True but my point is that we should ask for more than a 1-2 years old game with some extra features when we have to pay 60 to 70 euros to buy it.
Of caurse IF it comes with all these(bikes, online 12 cars/players,true 1080p) for 30 euros none including myself would complain...

I'm 100% sure. If the picture above isn't clear enough for you, then go ahead and try it yourself if you can. Park any car on a normal track in photo replay mode, take your picture with the wheel visible at a good angle, and save it to USB. Then got to photo mode, take a location like the one I used above for the R32, and take a picture from the same angle.

You'll see that I am right. You have just proven that the graphics guys from PD do an excellent job though. ;)

damn, PD got me real good this time :) i just followed my own advice and you're right, Arwin. though it's not exactly a flat poly with a texture, in replay photomode it's a curved surface (basically following the curvature of the rim as seen from the plane of the rim circle) with a single texture. in photo-travel mode it's a complete rim. btw, it's a 3d rim in the garage, too, though it may or may not be a full-detailed one - one just can't tell without a zoomed still shot.

Exactly. We don't know what we're getting yet, for how much. But the visuals in game are definitely much beyond GT4's. You're talking about photomode frames that take several seconds to render on PS2 being spat out at 60 fps. I don't know what the technical details for photomode are, but to me it looks like HDR illumination maps with some decent AA, which is certainly next-gen compared to what games were using in-game in racers. It's not the advanced shaders + spherical harmonics + true reflections that we really want, but it's definitely a technological step up from what the last generation was capable off.

This is both scarey testament to the lack of advancement in Forza's rendering, and scarey testament to the insane attention to detail and the invention of the photo-mode in GT4!

it's not just the level of detail in the photomode models, Shifty, it's PD's trademark fake global illumination model - those guys set the level of excellence in the industry.

Why do they have to fake it? Why don't they shine a sunlamp on the computer while it's compiling their game code? ;)

If they put this in the stores I would buy it seeing as I missed out on all the GT goodness on the PS2.
I loved the original Gran Tourismo on the Playstation - hours of fun... :D

All I remember about the original Gran Turismo was my amazing tendency to spin out. :p

Where's my next-gen Burnout, dammit? :D
