Looks like they still have the replacement disc program for all their 1st party games. However, where it was free for the Halo 3 Limited Edition discs(because of the scratching), it was only till 12/31/07. Right now they charge a flat $20US fee for any disc you send them. Still seems kind of high, but would be cheaper than the $40 to buy it new again. I'll have to think about that some.

My stepdads copy of Burnout Revenge got a disc scratch, I simply took my copy over to his house, installed it, and use his disc for disc verification. Now for Halo 3, with their swapping method, you will less than optimal performance but you would at least be able to play. So if you rent a copy this might work for you....or I could just send you a copy, lol.

Doubt if it's a good idea to put a cracked disk into the drive, even if only for verification.

I would, but I only borrowed the game 6 months ago to play it's single player. It's still surprisingly expensive too, which is a pain because I'm in a financial crap shoot right now (amongst many other things)...
All things going to plan I'll have 5 figures back in my bank account in a few weeks, so maybe then

Thanks for the suggestion, but the crack is bad enough the system won't even detect it. It definitely needs replacing.

My aiming with the sniper rifle leaves everything to be desired Not for me. I did a little better when I lowered my sens down but nothing short of pitiful, still.
