Gameplay screenshots of GT:HD

NO! I would have rather seen something like they did at TGS, just with more PS3 assets. GT4 HD was a huge failure. The only thing I liked about it was that it seemed to me that GT5 will be a combonation of Tourist Trophy and GT4 just with PS3 GT5 assets of course.
Well they are perfectionist, so they might not like to show half-ass PS3 work of them... ;) Showing total-ass GT:HD is better in a perverted way for them, sorta.

How about not showing anything GT and forgoing wasting people's time?
I quote zed at the other thread about 1080p.

all mastorbatory bullshit on sonys part,
the main reason is 1080p is something the xb360 cant do, and whilst the cell might be more powerful than what they have in the xb360, its not really something that u can easily show to the layman. 1080p though is,its in your face even duffus can easily see it.
(also theres also the fact where a ms guy said 1080p was impossible on a ps3)

So why didn they show GT5 cars last year? I actually thought showing the GT5 cars last year on a GT4 track was cool. They were showing progression like they did in the past. This time I was expecting to see like 4 GT5 cars (NO GT4 cars) on a GT4 track.

But instead we had to suffer watching stupid GT4 HD video. I can't wait to see GT5 cars racing along side GT5 motorcycles.

They can't show 30fps!

Was Motorstorm supposed to be part of the conference? I know it was late getting up and running (wasnt even ready until the next day). The GT:HD presentation really seemed like they were just killing time for whatever reason (aww, not another track Kaz!). I wonder if MoStorm's absence was a late minute change and they scrambled.

Some friends of mine said that actually GT:HD was absolutely beautiful on the show floor. Said it would probably convince him to buy a PS3 if they released it like that.

heh highly possible. I wouldnt find it strange. They spent too much time showing GT HD without any particular reason as if they were trying to extend the length of the conference or cover some gap of something. It was obvious journalists would have gotten bored with it.

I dont think Sony would have been so disorganized with their conference. They do rehearsals and pre-planning before they get live so everything will go as smooth as possible. They gave the impression they hastily planned the conference or something messed up with their schedule.

Considering how strong some of Sony's previous conferences have been, that does sort of make sense. An alternative answer, also possible, is that Sony are just getting complacent.

Original plans must be different is what I think about this because always Sony is very "slick" but this time they are like class-room presentation. Even warhawk presenter was very uncomfortable showing new controller because he did not land his ship very well. Maybe controller change is what made this problem or maybe something else.

Okay, fine, it can get 60fps in Doom3:

Looking at other sites, it seems that most benchmarks are closer to the results you posted, but that's besides the point. A 7600GT is weaker than RSX, and can do 80fps at that resolution.

There's no fundamental reason that 1080p is undoable. The reason 1080p games will be rare or will look bad is because 1080p has twice the pixels as 720p. It's just not worth it.

PGR3 says hello, from 6 months ago...
There are some 1024x600 framebuffer grabs of PGR3... basically it's about blur.

IIRC it was marketed as a GPU geared to Doom 3 acceleration but I didn't know it is that good, I should've bought it when it was out... ;)

I feel best view for PGR3 is garage view. I like to walk around cars and see very amazing details. It is very beautiful. Racing view is ok but not so great.

GT:HD looks like GT4 but has very high resolution. I think this is good example of amazing GT4 graphics quality (with some improvements for lighting for spectators) but it does not have real next gen look.

I think Polyphony shot themselves in the foot at E3 by showing GT:HD. People now think that GT5 is actually GT:HD and will look like a slightly prettier PS2 game, and are now counting on Forza 2 to deliver next-gen driving-game graphics, whereas actually if prior performance is anything to by GT5 will look absolutely phenomenal.

Well the good thing is Polyphony has TGS (September) to show the real GT5. And Forza 2 is probably not going to be out by then.

The shocker for me was them stating they had just begun work on the next GT because they'd just finished Tourist Trophy.

If they're just beginning work now, does that mean we can't expect GT5 until late 2007 or early 2008? Yikes.

Holiday 2007 is not that bad. That's one year after the release of the PS3.

I don't think we'll be seeing GT5 until 2008 at the earliest if they've just recently started the development.

He said GT5 might come out a bit sooner than we're used to. I can think of two reasons for that, the most important being that when they made GT4 they did a lot of work in preparation for GT5 as well, apparently (I've been following that process really closely back then, witness a few of my columns for IGN Cars in that period).

But GT's release has been very unpredictable in the past, so I'm not going to speculate this time. Just echoing what the man himself said at E3.

That would make sense. If you're going to all the effort of modelling hundreds of cars, I can see reason to do high-end models and reduce to target hardware. The effort of creating high-res next-gen models should then be much reduced. Has Laa-Yosh got any input on the validty of this speculation?

They can take GT4 Cards an apply Shader Effects on them for making the game more impressive.

But generally I believe that GT4 needs a revamp of all its circuits.
