Formula 1 - 2009 Season

I bet they wanted to get rid of Piquet before they did and couldn't because they knew what he would likely say. Very silly situation to put yourself into just to get one car to win one race.

Wonder what the penalty for Renault will be now?

Shows that Flav is the big liar and not Piquet after all.

Briatore leaving is not really a big loss, but Symonds leaving is. I am very disappointed in him and I am angry he felt he had to do it. The team is now throwing itself at the mercy of FIA as it has done before and if my hunch is true that Briatore was the target and Symonds is the collateral, they will not ban the team, but instead fine it or do something else.

This sucks, I thought better of you, Pat.

Do you not think it was incredibly stupid for Nelson Piquet Jr to crash his car on purpose? To put your own life at risk in such a manner boggles the mind. What lengths some people go to....... amazing.

In a fair world there will be criminal proceedings from this and I would be inclined to lock NP Jr up too.

Putting your life at risk is kinda overdoing it I think. With all the safety in F1 these days the chances of getting killed or even badly injured are very small. When you can stage your own crash its even smaller. Insane as it might sound there was very little risk for the driver with what renault did. Its not like they asked him to run straight into a concrete wall at 340kpmh, just touching the wall al 50kmph would have done the job just fine. Obviously piquet thought that now he finally had the chance to do something good for the team he might have overdone it a bit but hey

flavs a shady bugger..

It will also mean that Williams can get back to talking to Renault about an engine deal for 2010. This had previously been blocked by Briatore as he was trying to get Robert Kubica to sign for Renault rather than Williams and was denying the team engines if they did a deal with the Polish driver.

How likely is it that Alonso knew nothing of these tactics? After all, a very unusual early first stop was needed and made to make Piquets crash worthwhile...

Who knows, but he's hardly the most trustworthy individual despite his latest "charm" offensive the past weekend.
