Formula 1 - 2008 Season

Massa was unlucky as he drove really well today. It must still be very frustrating to be a Massa fan when he can be so blisteringly fast one day and then spin 5 times in a race as he did in Silverstone.

 Raikkonen got really lucky today, he was receiving knockout punches from Massa and Hamilton, but in the end he was the only one of the three standing in the podium!, and he gained a spot in the standings.

A pity for Massa, who had driven spectacular race until the engine failure. I can't be too upset about that though as Kovalainen got the victory and Massa didn't get a chokehold on Kimi, still a pity for him.

Finally Kovy got "a little bit" lucky. Let's see if he can use this win to get similar results during the rest of the season.

I will have to rewatch this race to get the other voice announcing and hear all those comments (I mean Kyllönen, Finns should understand what I mean :)

Feel bad for Massa. He schooled the field and then the mech with 2laps to go. Hopefully he'll get a payback later in the season.

He can be happy that he's still in the game at all, after how he behaved. If I ran a team, he'd never even be an option.

Heh, such animosity against one of the best drivers in the field. I think Ron Dennis deserves just as much of the blame as Alonso does, and let's not forget Pedro and the spies themselves.

At least Fernando has the drive and passion, something Kimi seems to be lacking at the moment.

I really don't know how people can judge how much Kimi lacks passion etc. Very few people are close enough to him to actually know how he feel or what he does. Yes he does enjoy doing other stuff than F1, but that might as well mean he is more dedicated when he is at a race as the opposite. He has been in the game for most of his life and he seems as dedicated as ever to me. He's an odd fellow so who knows how he feels. :p

I am just calling it how I see it. He may of course be as dedicated as ever, but he has a history of periods of seemingly slight despondency. He managed to rally last year and win the championship by 1 point, and I don't know if he can do it again. Maybe the F2008 is hard to set up correctly or maybe they have lost a lot of ground to McLaren, but the fact is that even though the Ferrari was ultimately the fastest car in Hungary, it wasn't the fastest car all the time. Kimi only came through on the option tyre after jumping Fernando in the last stint's pit stop.

Ferrari have two strong drivers but Massa is infamous for his inconsistency (super-fast one day, error-prone the next) and Kimi seems to be in a slump. Maybe Schumi has to come back and school everyone? :D

Hehe, I can't stop you from feeling that but I think Max Mosley's escapades has ridiculed the sport more.

I like Alonso, he has passion and a will to win. I will always remember with fondness how he stopped Michael Schumacher's dominance.

Tell you what, _xxx_, you can deny selling him a McLaren Mercedes. Maybe that will make you feel better. :)

Oh and never eat paella and chorizo! :D

Oh, I'd have some things to say about Mosley as well, that nazi idiot.

Alonso will never be good enough to even kiss schumachers shoes, any comparison of that sort is just laughable. And I never was a Schumacher fan, but that doesn't change the facts.

Alonso beat Schumi fair and square two years in a row. Granted, one of those years (2005), Ferrari was struggling hard, but the other year they weren't and it was a close battle but Alonso won by 13 points. In 2005, Alonso finished with more than 2x the points of Schumacher.

Anyway, let's just agree to disagree on that.

Dude, look at Schumacher's history and overall records he set throuout his carrier. Another world, not even worth discussing. Schumacher is literally the most successfull driver of all times and prolly the best along with Senna and Fangio.

I can understand patriotic feelings and being a fan, but get real. Pink glasses don't do it.

I am not from Spain so patriotism is not a part of it.

I don't say that Alonso is better than Schumi, I am just saying that it is a fact that Alonso beat Schumi twice. Alonso has a lot of records too, but of course Schumi is 7 times world champion which is incredible. Schumi is a living legend, there is no denying that.

Don't get snippy with me just because you don't like Alonso.

I have a theory that Ferrari are actually backing Massa and don't really care about Kimi. Sure if he wins it's all good but they prefer Massa. Michael's influence I suppose or Kimi's stonic personality, who knows. I mean two races ago, Kimi stayed out 2-3 longer than Massa. Usually the team would do at least a lap difference. Going two laps longer means that Kimi is slower in qualifying by quite a bit. Having signed Alonso for 2010 already and having Massa on contract for that year also doesn't really say, hey Kimi, we like you ans support you. Kimi most probably doesn't give a crap anymore and hence the lacklustre drive although you can see he is fastest still by doing the fastest lap is a lot of the races.

In the end, Kimi is still a much better driver, the current points standings prove it.

Massa is great when everything clicks, but he is so damn erratic. I also think Kimi is overall a better driver with more versatility than Massa but it is a fact that at least Schumi is a big friend of Massa's. Also, Massa has won more races than Kimi this year and bad luck prevented him from winning the Hungary Grand Prix.

Nevertheless, F1 is an equipment based sport and engine failures are a part of the game.

Where did you hear they actually have Alonso signed up for 2010?
I can't speak for him, but AFAIK it is only a rumor.
