Formula 1 - 2008 Season

So then. What's the consensus on how lucky Hamilton was in that race? I mean, that's why he won right?

Awesome race, Hamilton drove like a champ. I am disappointed that Alonso couldn't finish higher, but Barrichello did well to get third.

Wet weather races = awesome.

Well, Kovi did went out of his way quite a bit when hamilton passed ;)

But no you cant say anything about his win. Other than it might have been harder if Ferrari didnt screw kimi with the tyres but that is just talking what if.

Hamilton drove fine excluding his 2 (1 shown, some talk about 2 spings total) spins, but it was easy victory for him due others - first Kovalainen letting him pass was first, then ferrari screwing up with the tires

That was a fun race to watch! Amazing drive my Hamilton. Tactical error by Ferrari. The definition of driving error(s) by Massa and how the hell? by Barichello!

Yeah, we got a glimpse of the old Massa during the race. Spins galore.

Unless he can rebound, the championship is over for him. He rebounded from Australia, so there is hope for him yet.

I wish Alonso could have switched places with Barrichello. Renault messed up with not changing Fernando's tyres.

Well if Honda had things going as planned, too, Barrichello had done even better - he had to stop 3 times because on his 2nd stop the fuel system didn't work and he didn't get any or at least not enough fuel

Are worn intermediate tyres somehow much better on a drying track than new intermediates? I'm just trying to understand, that why on earth did Ferrari left those old tyres on?! It just seems way too big risk for a small gain if any?

Well, warn inters are basically slicks so they will be better on a dry track.

Ferrari obviously thought it was going to be a light passing shower, not a downpour. Either way it didn't matter as when they did put new tyres on they still couldn't live with Lewis's pace. It's just an excuse to make the Hamilton haters feel better about themselves.

Like the fact he spun off once (if you can call it a spin) when everyone else was going off for fun, especially both ferraris.

Renault did the same.

Hamilton was untouchable yesterday.

Because the tires are warm and already rubbed in which means better performance than new tyres given that the track doesnt become wetter as the lesser profile you have the harder it becomes to drain the water which is exactly what happend. Ferrari made a bad gamble. If it didnt rain they would have the advantage.

As for the tyres becoming like slicks, this is not true. The compand is different from the dry tyres, they need to be cooled by water and even if you would run off all of the profile it would still be alot less fast than a normal dry tyre. I believe Schumacher had this a couple of years ago. He kept running on his profileless intermidiates thinking he could make it but his laptimes were alot slower than the people that decided to stop for dry tyres. Not to mention that as soon as you get to a somewhat try track the intermidiates are shreded in no time.

Well Kimi had the fastest lap in the race and they pitted at the same time, so I think he had the pace. After the pit stop there was nothing he could do and he had to battle with other cars until the end, so it's no wonder Hamilton was faster after that... I'm not saying he would have won, as it would have still been extremely hard to get past Hamilton, but imo he had the pace to challenge him.

Kimi spun twice with crappy tyres, but probably didn't lose any points because of that. I think Kimi drove pretty good after he got the new tyres, rising from 11th or 12th to 4th, and now ties the championship lead. Massa was all over the place though...

We Kimi pitted the second time it was on lap 31 if I remember correctly and he had to drive a really heavy card. Kimi and Hamilton wasn't close to equal terms except for the first stint. (Not bashing Hamilton, he was without the best on the day)

The Stig ex-f1 thinks Alonso

The Stig was out at Silverstone last weekend giving a ride in a two-seater F1 car to a man who had won a charity auction when Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso commented “whoever’s in that car is a seriously good driver.” He continued, “I’ve no idea who he is, but he’s definitely ex-F1.”
