Formula 1 - 2008 Season

Kimi P1, Massa P2, Alonso P3

Hammy is down in P13 due to the penalty

Go Alonso, get a podium! :D

3 stop strategy on Magny-Cours is doable. I think Hamilton is on one too.

I don't know I wasn't listening to the commentary. I would've thought they would fuel him to go long to give them more flexibility. Certainly seemed like he was pushing harder than normal to put in a lap which suggests to me he had more fuel.

Well, there is a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow so McLaren may have gambled on that and fueled Hamilton long, but I don't think so.

Not a good qualifying day for McLaren as Kovy had a penalty too, dropping him to the 10th in the starting grid.

Massa won, Räikkönen Amazingly finishes second after a broken exhaust burned parts of the car resulting in a serious loss of performance. Trulli finished 3rd just before Kovalainen. Hamilton had a tough day.

Awesome work by Trulli, he fought the entire race. Did you see how sweaty he was in the press conference? Kimi and Felipe were really relaxed compared to him. Ferrari may have won the race but I think the day belongs to Trulli and Toyota who dedicated the result to the late Ove Andersson.

I'm disappointed with Alonso, he should have managed a better result, but Piquet impressed me. I think he redeemed himself today with a great drive, great fighting and he beat Fernando.

Kubica managed to salvage a bad weekend while Hammy didn't get the result he wanted, mainly because he passed a Toro Rosso illegally and got a drive-through penalty. He had some great overtaking maneuvers, though, but he also made mistakes. I think his inexperience is really beginning to shine through.

Well you can also overreact. There wasnt really a massive loss in performance. There was in the first few laps but after that it wasnt such a big deal especially since he was way in fron of trulli anyway. They probably told kimi not to push to hard anyway because of that.

at presconference Kimi said that last laps he was afraid the machine will stop - few more laps and he'd have to stop anyway.

Ron Dennis says Hamilton had passed the Toro Rosso before he went straight through the chicane and says the penalty was unfair.

He is out of his mind, Hammy had NO CHANCE making that passing maneuver without going straight through the chicane. The penalty was justified.

They could have black-with-orange-circle flagged him. *shrug*

If Massa keeps this up, he will win the championship.

Luckly kimi isnt a engineer. At his pitstop nobody even botherd to check it for just a second, im sure they knew the car would just keep going. Not to strange, as you dont need a exhaust. Ofcourse it will hit performance a bit but that is just about it as we saw.

Regarding that, I think its often suprising how these cars can still run without trouble while damaged or missing parts that you'd think they need. Like barge boards, when a car misses one you never really see a hit in performance. Or as with I think Wurz last season when he was missing the side part of the rear wing. You'd think that part needs to be there to keep things together at 300kmph but apperantly it doesnt as it didnt bother his times one bit. Same now with kimi, things must have been lose for some time before we even saw it but he was fast all the time. Only after the exhaust came lose (loss of engine power and not exactly a aerodynamic improvement) he had a bit of a hit in performance but after they seemed to have change some things to the fuel mixture it went quite fast again.

hamilton said he was pushed off, whether he was or not i dont know (cant remember it exactly)

...I was ahead on the outside and I couldn't turn in on the guy, otherwise we would have crashed so I took the outside line, lost the back on the marbles and went over the kerb. I continued because I don't believe I overtook him by going over the kerb, I actually took him before that.

/shrug

That wasn't a pass. That was a prayer. He was tyring to bully his way past and the other driver held his ground.

Hamilton touched the back of Kovi's car near the start and it looked like he may have touched Alonso as he passed him later on. Hitting other cards is starting to become a habit for him.
