Formula 1 - 2008 Season

Further proof (if it was needed) that Alonso is the sports biggest cock.

Kovalainen dropped because he's too fast for Alonso

"Please Flavio, get someone crap so I look good no matter where I finish in the championship"

I'd say it was less to do with his speed( the speed plays a part naturally though), but more to do with Kovalainen's unwillingness to be

The article says it was unexpected, but I for sure knew that Heikki has no place in Renault if Alonso Signs, and atleast in Finland it was pretty much public knowledge.

The problem is that he's managed by Flavio and Dennis is somewhat wary of that situation.

The spanish sponsor just broke their contract with McLaren, 1 year before it was supposed to end, which points to that PDLR won't be racing there next season, which again improves Heikki's chances on getting there

Michael Schumacher was like that too with for instance Rubens, Felipe and Eddie.
I doubt Schumacher would even consider anyone a rival in the same team, lets face it he was easily the best driver for the last 10 years.

Not like Alonso at all, who is just scared of being shown up, hence his rapid departure from McLaren.

So basically, if the WMSC accepts Max' request, the 2008 McLaren car is cleared for entry and no further action will be taken?

Further proving that is was exactly what I said, one mans vendetta against another.

Mosley should resign.

Mclaren apologies and hopes that this spying stuff can be put to rest finally. A nice gesture from them and I too hope that this won't be talked too much during the next season. I'm ready for Kimi vs Lewis round two!

So they cheat, dont tell anybody, lie, sue another team, lie about that too and spread false info to the media and you think offering their apolegies is a nice gesture?

If he hates mclaren so much dont you think he would want the meeting to continue? I'm sure he could find something on the mclaren car (with the help of Ferrari or not) if he really wanted to.

I agree he should resign though, but more because he's just do damn old and has made and probably will be making to many bad decisions for F1.

Yes, nicer than the other things on that list of yours anyway. Apology is a nice gesture. You know shit happens, they paid the price, let's race.

If you could replace a battery pack during a pit stop, how much KWh would you need to fit into that pack to outperform all the other cars? And how much could it weight?

Why do you ask?

Because they're going into that direction with half the new rules. And the amount of power (electricity) you can supply to an electromotor defines what it is capable of.

Power doesnt matter alot anymore in F1. Besides that the FIA will limit the power of electric engines just as they did with petrol engines the speed of a F1 car depends alot more on mechanical and aerodynamical grip than horsepower. A F1 cars weights only 600kg so im pretty sure battery packs and engines that offer the same amount of power and range will make cars heavier. Batterypacks arnt light and you need a whole lot for the speed F1 cars drive at and even more to keep them driving for such a distance.

Hmmmm, hopefully this is accurate:

Lewis Hamilton’s team-mate at McLaren Mercedes next season will be Heikki Kovalainen, The Times understands. The Finn, who finished seventh in his rookie season as Renault’s second driver, was replaced in the French team by Nelson Piquet Jr this week. Signals emanating from McLaren suggested that the team would seek to promote from inside to find the successor to Fernando Alonso, who left to return to Renault, but Kovalainen, 26, is believed to have been given the green light.

It makes me laugh, after all that talk about making sure the 2008 car had no Ferrari parts on it and then Max decides that an apology is enough to prove it! This apology from a team we know lied during the year, or at the very least tried to hide things.

So all along it was just a pissing contest and Max won so that's that.

Both McLaren and the FIA have badly tarnished the sport this year in their attiude to each other and wider F1 audience.

It will surely be limited, but the weight shouldn't be much. Anywhere between 30 and 60 kg depending on the size (ass-uming Li-Ion here). But the battery is not the problem, there are other components involved - battey-ECU, very thick cabling for high voltage parts, DC/DC-converter, E-engine etc. Mechanical pumps will be thrown out and replaced by e-pumps and so on.

A difference in weight for a normal series sedan is usually about 200 kg more for the hybrid version, so I guess in F1 we'll see maybe 70-100 kg more weight due to the extra components.
