Finally PS3 and 360 side-by-side

Huge and ugly!

I thought the Xbox 360 was ugly, but the PS3 makes the 360 look like art.

Thank god more people think its ugly, for the life of me I cant see anything slick, sleek or good about the PS3 design.

The gloss finish just worsens it further.

I hope the final model doesnt sport the gloss finish.

On the subject of having to "lug aroung" this gigantic 5 pound beast.

I know gamers tend to neglect their arm and chest muscles (There is no shame in just focusing on wrist and finger strength). So perhaps 5 lbs is going to pose a real problem here.

It's interesting that we are discussing this right after Quakecon. You should see some of the gear people were willing to drag all the way out there. Not just huge tower desktops but heavy CRT monitors as well. Just a thought - don't want to start anything... but could it be PC gamers are more macho than console gamers?

Well you don't carry around PC's and Quakecon is a rare event but you could probably carry it with a scooter.

So once a semester? I'm a college student and many of my friends in dorms leave their ps2's + 360's in the same spot. Some of you guys are acting like you're moving furniture lol. If you cant lift 5lb's, somebody needs to hit the gym.

Personally I like the look of the PS3, but only standing up. Lying sideways it just doesn't look right, it's meant to be standing. But the again I thought the same thing about the PS2.

BTW, the BlackKnight skins looks awesome for the X360.

I think its a case+faceplate, not a skin. Much higher quality than a skin.
And it does look sexy. I think the 360 looks much better all black.

Apparently a lot of people if the name of the console is Xbox. Far fewer if the name is PS3 though.

Well of course, the first Xbox was a bitch slap to anyone with eyes as far as looks go.

I still think the PS3 is ugly, much more so than the 360 and Wii, but I will say its much better looking than the first Xbox, but much worse looking than any model PS2 and Gamecube.

Fair enough, I think PS3 is very good looking ... easy on the eyes, like the case designs of PSP or DS Lite.

With all those pics in this thread of 360 and its collection of orbiting peripherals I am even more okay with the PS3 size. PS3 is going to be a very neat and clean setup.

Fixed it for ya. Somehow you got your weights all messed up.

Its 5 Kilograms, not 5 pounds. Translates to about 11 pounds. Its not that heavy but its not exactly featherlite either for an entertainment device. Wouldnt want to drop it on my toes thats for sure.

Wow, it's much smaller than I expected. I think I expected more something like a PC tower initially. If they manage to pull this off with the low noise levels that have been talked about and the internal power adapter, then wow!

I do not like the white area around the blu-ray drive slot. I'd prefer that if it were gold colored, or silver/red, or something like that. Maybe even blue, like the playstation stands. Come to think of it, that kind of blue would look great with a white PS3.

But otherwise, I think it looks very nice!

I hope the final units will look not as shiny like that painted wood. At the official site gallery it looks less shiny.
But maybe they made a decision to make it look more like the PSP ?

It's rather big compared to the other consoles. What I personally like about the PS3 is that it doesn't look like a toy. It wouldn't look out of place next to my stereo and DVD player.

Where do you people place the PSU? Right next to the console? Simply placing it behind your entertainment center and you never see the thing again. How does this take away from the visuals of the console? Its out of the way and hidden.

the ideal would be zero wires, but internal vs external, give me internal anyday. eg take the common notebook im sure many here have used one, its a pain in the ass with a exteneral psu yes, wouldnt it be great just to grab the notebook, pull something out of it + stick that in the wall. or say u had the extra hassle with the extenral psu keep in mind u youve gotta pack that away in the notebook case as well, another component.
i agree the ps3 looks crap but to say the xbox1 looks better is time for walking away saying ok, whilst making finger circular rotation movements in the vicinity of the ear

Yes but comparing notebook to a console is bit... anal.
I prefer external for consoles.
