Final Fantasy XIII [PS3, X360]

FF XIII Agito info: http://psp.ign.com/articles/108/1084550p1.html

On Agito, Tabata said "Development is progressing well. The reaction was extremely positive when we showed the development version to the producers, management and marketing team in March. The whole staff is excited. We won't be able to show it for a bit, but it's looking like it will become an awesome game."

Me think they should focus on Gran Pulse style open gameplay. If FFXIII is any indication, their story telling needs to be tightened up too. I remember they did a FFXIII survey and concluded that (only) Japanese gamers care about the story. I believe all are confused by the story. :p

Would be splendid if they can also steal from Demon's Souls and God of War 3. ^_^

After what mission do you get the chocobo in pulse? I'm on 11 now?

Mission 14.
You actually dont need to play all 13 missions before to unlock mission 14.

1 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 12 - 13 - 14

This is the fastest way to unlock mission 14. [mission 12 the one with the big cie'th leader...is a pain to get 5 stars in if you decide to do it before finishing the game, like me]

I'm trying to grind my way through the last of the missions, some of them are pretty difficult (shooting for 5 stars).

All I need is to finish these, and get all my weapons / items and I'll have that dang platinum trophy, lol.

My friend who took my PS3 for 2 weeks or so was able to 5 star every mission & hence got the trophy as well, not only this he got 90% of the trophies except the Treasure Hunter trophy (just needed to upgrade few things) & one more which I can't remember... too bad he played on other account instead of mine :devilish:

5 star the giant tortoise ? and those magic spamming monsters ? GOOD LUCK !!!

I already got my 5 star for both of those. I have about 15 missions left to go get 5 stars, the only two I think will give me trouble is mission 64 and Attacus. The rest should be pretty easy!

5 stars on the Giant tortoise is easy with the right strategy and equips. Takes me slightly less than 2 minutes. It's not required for the trophy anyway. No mission involves the poor things as far as I remember (at least not the really big ones).

I think some of the easier monsters are actually harder to 5 star because they come with really strict time limits.

As for 5 stars on mission 64: equip level one weapons (raises the time limit significantly), stick the creature with poison and just wait it out. It's boring and kinda cheap, but it works. I think you don't even need the gold watch for it to work.

How many types of Tortoises are there ?

There are the regular ones, the big one with 3 "wolves" near the Giant Cactuar, and another bigger (?) one back in Cocoon ?

There are 3 types to start with, the Adamanchelid, the Adamantortoise, and the Adamantoise. After a certain mission, they'll become the Shaolong Gui and Long Gui, which are significantly harder to kill (well, it takes longer at least).

The biggest ones (initially) are the ones that wander around the Steppe. They don't have the broken tusks unlike the slightly smaller ones (the one with the wolves is a medium sized one). I don't think they are actually smaller. They just have way less health and don't hit quite as hard. Once you complete all the missions of the Cie-stones that are arranged in a circles the Adamantoises will be replaced by the Long Guis and the Sha Long Guis. I think the Sha Long Gui is the smaller one, but I'm not quite sure. Killing a Long Gui rewards you with the "Felled A Heavy Weight ..."-trophy.

I don't think I have seen Shaolong Gui and Shalong Gui yet. Which side mission do I need to complete ?

Oh ok... you answered my question above. :)

Yeah, I completed every one of the Cieth stones in that circle, except one.

The tough tortoises have multiple targets (left leg, right leg, etc.).

Welp, after a long day of non-productiveness and grinding, I finished out all those hunts with a 5 Star rating.

...now I have to worry about those damn treasures :(

I'm happy I don't really care about trophies that much anymore. It still is a neat sensation, but I'm well past the stage where I think I have to fill out that list.

It probably was Demon's Souls that did it to me. It's an amazing game, no doubt, but grinding 100+ hours for a pure bladestone consumed everything I felt for it. I never want to do that to myself again.

The worst part about completely maxing out a game is that once you're done, you immediately realize that there's nothing else you could possibly do with your incredible powers that took so long to attain. All you can do is marvel at your stats screen for 5 minutes and shut it off. I remember feeling that way after doing the honors in Final Fantasy X, clearing and rebuilding the whole sphere grid to max out most stats, taking down the dark aeons one by one, and then that final ultimate boss thing. So much time.

Ha ha, Demon's Souls cured your compulsive obsession ? :p

I guess for me it's just another way to extend the natural playtime of the game.

I mean, if not for Trophies, I would have been finished with this game about 30 hours earlier, instead I managed to get some extra weeks out of it, which is totally fine by me. Sure, it's not for everyone, but I think it's a fantastic way (sometimes) to add a little replay value where there otherwise is none.

I really don't know if I have the patience to go through and get all those treasures though. It's simply too much.
