Final Fantasy XIII [PS3, X360]

Now if Geohot would hack FFXIII to open up the combat system in Chapter 1, I'd be a fan of him.

I'm not telling you what Chapter 11 is.

Well into chapter 13, but i`m currently back on Pulse doing a Supermarket Sweep!! 95+ hours and counting..................................i have no life 8(.

Heh heh, I finally made it to the warp point back to Gran Pulse.
)(Chapter 13 !) If I don't warp back to previous level, is the next fight the final boss ?
.

Attempted Gigantaur and get owned within 3 seconds. Why is the mission rated class B ? It should be S class.

One word of advice. Be patient. You have a long journey ahead.

On a related note, I am &%*$%*$ stuck in Chapter 12 first boss. Got killed right after the first stagger. Checked out youtube this morning. I shall return.

Which boss is that? I've had relatively little trouble once you get your paradigm shifts under control.

What's your party set up look like? I think this is my second favorite FF from a gameplay perspective (XII being my fav).

I dispatched him yesterday. It was
Proudclad
(if I remember his name correctly). Also got rid of its second form today. [Good riddance !]

Oh yea, that was a good battle.

What I enjoy about the game is no boss battle is the same, rather, you can't just use one strategy throughout the entirety of the game, you absolutely have to approach these fights differently to come out on top. Much better than just choosing your strongest spell, having to coach the team to success is more interesting to me.

I kinda cheesed it to death (
Don't stagger it so that it won't go berserk.
). I fought the second form straight. Took me one rage quit and 3 tries.

Done with Pulse for now and am back on the main quest. Come across a real nasty piece of work! can't remember the boss name though! Looks like he has a crab on his back.....

People any tips on defeating the Havok Skytank ? The final boss of chapter 7 ie. city of Palumpolum.

go for the armaments/hulls first didn't think it was that hard have you upgraded as much as possible? Maybe some grinding is in order if not.

Grinding is not much of a possibility as there is no way to go back and grind from Hope's home.
Anyways I have upgraded my skills a lot...not so much for weapons & items but they are decent enough. The problem I am having is that the tank does a lot of damage so i can't even heal properly, I thought of buffing everyone first but well forget it...all I want to know is the best combination for paradigm for this fight.

Will try once more by till then.

EDIT: Got him, was quite easy as this time I had the right mix of paradigms :
Protection : SEN/SYN/MED
Relentless Assault : COM/RAV/RAV
Solidarity : COM/SEN/MED
Diversity : COM/RAV/MED
Combat Clinic : MED/SEN/MED

Used the first one it at start to cast layers of protections & the last one for turtling wen low on HP & the rest three are nothing but attack.

I am now in Nautilus (Chapter 8 ) beautiful city ! and I'd like to have a bit of my insight so far. I will say that the game's 4th chapter is totally useless its so full of shit & so is chapter 2. (though somewhat important in story but still its bad) These are some really long chapters & also the worst, this is why the game feels so slow at start...I can forgive Chapter 1 for being like that since its introductory chapter. But man once you reach chapter 5 its no stopping. The characters are very mature now, they feel very natural. I actually like every character in this game but if I had to pick up only one then it'd be Snow (doesn't he looks a lot like David beckham ? lol), during the start does it feels like he's all talk, but as the game went on I started to like his character a lot. Second favorite would be Hope. (Phineas !!)

P.S.[I recently saw a video that had english voice acting being compared with Japanese & IMO this time the English voice over trumps the japanese voiceovers for the most part]

I am into chapter 9 and I have to say I really like it. Aside from the fact I seem to never have enough items for upgrading weapons. I have everyone's first weapon at about lvl 10. I liked most of the characters except Hope which is odd cause I like him at fist.

However his whole I hate Snow arg revenge will make him pay thing was dragged out way too long and could of ended like 3 hours earlier. Just say it already and get over it.

Ah... I think you may like Hope back. I am indifferent to all except Vanille, but Hope becomes rather capable/useful later.

I should go check out the Japanese voice of Vanille.

EDIT:
I have Lionheart upgraded until it is starred (What does it mean other than I can't upgrade it any further ?). The rest are less than level 10.

Oh but you can upgrade it further (and you should). To further upgrade Lionheart you first need a specific catalyst component to transform the weapon. I don't know the name of the component, but chances are you already have one. Just try to upgrade the star-ed Lionheart weapon like usual and look for a component that isn't greyed out. Tier 2 Lionheart goes up to level 45 iirc. Once you reach that point you need one final catalyst item to instantly max the weapon at level 100. It's either 1.5000000 or 2000000 Gil and can be bought at the R&D shop (I think you have to complete mission 7 on Pulse for R&D to become available)

Every weapon can be maxed like that.

You can buy all that stuff too, but components can be rather pricey.

Little guideline for upgrading: organic materials increase the multiplier, synthetic stuff nets you the most experience. Some stuff is just for money (like perfume, gold dust or gold nuggets - the description of the items will say that it can be sold for a premium) and I'm not quite sure whether you can even use catalyst materials in regular upgrading processes.
Generally you want that 3x multiplier in order to get the most out of the much pricier unorganic materials, so just buy 36x Sturdy Bone at Creature Comforts and use them all at once on a weapon. Next you wanna use synthetic components to level up your weapons proper. You get the most bang for the buck with the superconductor (can be bought at the Garage) and the Ultracompact Reactor (sold at R&D). Try to use just the right amount of sythetic components to advance the weapon to the star stage in one single go to make the most of the multiplier.
It's a good idea to save your game once you spent your sturdy bones if you don't want to waste unneccesary synthetic components. Try out how much it takes to get the weapon star-ed before committing.

Nah you can't use components for upgrading stars for something else unless it was to upgrade a separate star maybe I haven't got that far. He's a useful character especially as a ravager and medic I just don't like him as the person very much right now even though I just reached the part that you can choose what chars to use.

Honestly it's not even worth your time to upgrade until you get to CH13 and you are given the option to go back to Pulse.

You always want to use x36 Sturdy Bone or x36 Barbed Tails to start your "upgrade process" which will give you a 3x multiplier. Then you can use all of your heavy hitter components (like Perfect Conductors) to do some heavy upgrading.

Once you get a max weapon, you can use a catalyst to take it to the next tier. I'd just concentrate on getting your main party's weapons to the top of the second tier. Realistically, unless you plan on sinking a LOT of time into the game, ultimate weapons for all of them will be "out of reach" so to speak (unless you slay some Adamantortoise for some Trap's...which is hard unless you have an advanced party).

Anyway, it looks like this, basically

Tier 1* Weapon+Catalyst=Tier 2* Weapon+Catalyst=Ultimate Weapon
