Square Enix has announced a DVD title called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The story takes place 2 years after FFVII, the once peaceful world of FFVII has become corrupted again, and it seems both Cloud and Sephiroth are present in the movie. It is unclear whether this is only a DVD movie, or a full videogame.

Man, this BETTER be a game!! If it's some bullshit OVA I'll be pretty pissed!!

Mmm some pics on the scan look like CG, some like in-game footage... Anyways, this movie -> Final Fantasy: the money within

I thought Square would have learned by now to stay out of the movie business :devilish:

Grrr. I always thought that a FF VII-2 on PSP would make much more sense (even if it was using the PSOne FF engine).

Given the poor games they made, but which have a great story, I believe they should retire from the Video Game business, and only make movies.

I'm interested in knowing more about that product, I liked FFVII (that's the FF I started with, since then I played all those released before it, none after), so I'm really curious about what it is.

Square has really fallen from grace. They havent made a single great "nextgen" game. Sad really, this is the developer that gave us the exellent games like: vagrant story, finalfantasy tactics, ff6-7, chrono trigger, seiken densetsu 2-3, einhänder, xenogears etc etc.

FFX. Sure, it's not the best in the series, but it's still great.

I'm more of a Square SNES gamer so I agree with you here.

Front Mission 4 and Dragon Quest VIII are potential great nextgen games ;)

You know, as much as I really dislike the Square as of late, this move may be a good move. A lot of people have alwas thought the should continue the Final Fantasy VII storyline. I'm not particularly one of these people, but I would like to see what this is all about.

Many people didn't like VII, some even hated it. Personally, I loved it and thought that future games that evolved from the new concept could be just as good if not better. I was sad to see that the games just got easier and easier and all they were, were epic storylines (mediocre at that) with flashy graphics and little to no gameplay. I have yet to play 10 to an amount of great extent, so that may be different. I'll find out one day.

Square used to be great back in the days, they screamed innovation when it came to RPG's. They definitely knew how to make a story into a game and have gamers going back for more. Something happened after the success of VII and then to a minor extent Xenogears. They became too corporate and have stagnated since. This story about FFVII, whatever it is may be just what they need or it could very well be the one last thing to turn Square into a laughing stock.

For now, this moderator will go back silent.

Basically, 10 doesn't even pretend to be nonlinear like 7-9 did... it's linear and that's a fact. Its story is definitely wonderful, though - it definitely overshadows 8 and 9's by a tremendous margin (it picks up and really gets interesting right after the required Blitzball Tournament, when you get Auron).

I loved the first 6 ffs . I must say that after 7 on the psx they started rushing the games. And thats what lead to them starting to suck alot . You need to let things rest. Look at supermario bros. We have 1 or 2 a generation (except for the first which gave us 3) So there was enough time to make the game better and let everything feel new to us. Look at tomb raider. At one point they were coming out once a year and so everyone got burnt out and the company was making them worse and worse. Now tomb raider is a joke . But if we got a tomb raider ever 3 or so years the games wouldn't be a joke and we wouldn't be tired of them.

if this is a game I'm sure it will be a big dissapointment. The amount of hype generated before release will be sooo huge and it just wont be able to keep up with it. FFVII was the best game ever made IMO and square should have just left it at that, I mean chances are its not going to be nearly as good as FFVII, and how could it be? FVII was pretty well perfect IMO.
