Fight Night (Xbox 360) - 3 Million Polys Per Fighter

Ot

Enough with the Madden OT, folks, the topic is still: Fight Night 3 and its polygonal performances.

Keep, on, topic.

Haha, oh man, the facial expressions and physics sucks on 360. The judge doesn't even open his mouth when he counts in that 1up video. What's up with the movements too?
Geez, when he gets knocked down, half of his head goes trough the floor. Haha, and his position, omg.
One thing is quite nice tho, the glove deformes after his face. Although it goes through his head first.
The punches look weak and slow, but maybe that's because you control them with the analog stick? Like you're moving the hand or how it was.
I'd rather see them fix that than polygon count. The ps3 demo was way more impressive.
And the artistic style sucks too. :)
And the fluids, like what's up with the fluids? Sure it's a cool idea but they haven't done it good.

Ok I'm sorry going on the 360 like that, but damn, see the e3 demo again.

Hehe, I love that part.

Now the PS3 version may come out the same, and that would really suck, because it does look very fun (demo) and I've never really liked such games. Oh well. :)

Hey Vysez check out this new Fight Night video:

The animation is crap, but the models do appear to be very high-poly, I'm not sure if it's 3 million high, but what do you think?
First thing I have to admit, the game looks awsome.

The models are nowhere near 3M pps (Not that you could tell that from that video, but there's the pictures, and it's definitely APS).

The animations transistions are not that great, true, but they're not as terrible as some made it sound to be. They're excellent but not bad either, the rest is top notch. I especially like the blood spitting, I don't know if it's proceduraly generated or pre-canned, anyway it looks above anything else I saw until now.

Too stiff

I feel graphics are very amazing, atleast main characters, but fighting animation is very bad. The movement is not smooth and is too simple, and make characters look like feet are too heavy and block actions are like on and off switch. Falling animation and is better but collision with mat is not so good. Head should not go through mat. Also, near end of video I can see inside shorts of character and I can see character model has no thigh part. Maybe many problems are because of not so good CPU use. However look of graphics is very amazing.

firstly <earant>The thing is i don't trust EA and their bullcrap statements about what their games are gonna be like, every EA staff who gives interviews to gaming media in Ea has this preceisly calculated PR/marketing tone that pisses me off, they are like politicians for christ's sake </earant>
secondly They promised near cg quality graphics with 360 version of madden and look what we got!! Why would i beleive that EA is gonna work hard and release a radically different fight night game for ps3 while they know(just like you huys and i do) that ppl would buy 360 version looking one with minor upgrades??

Thread Pruned

I pruned the thread from the second round of Madden OT posts.

And it's not like I didn't ask to stop with the Madden OT... I'm not going to repeat it, though. ;)

If you want to discuss about Madden 2006, just start a new thread, no need to derail other's games threads.

Why would they have cut some animations comparing to e3 demaonstration ?
what kind of processing power do you need to make good animations ?
You may have to cut several animations due to gameplay constraint as well.

Fight night is probably the best looking nextgen game shown sofar, atleast the character models

I don't think the animation is that bad, it looks like that video is gameplay and is user controlled, if you ever played fight night with the analog sticks thats about the best you can controll them

looks like the renderware engine will be a big contender in the next gen engine market, the defjam fighting game looks great also looks like EA might turn it's image around if they keep cranking out great looking games hopefully they will be fun also

In the latest 360 video it seems theres a lot more going on in the background than there was in the E3 demo. Judging from waht happened with GRAW, i would say this game is following the same exact pattern.

1. First demo, awesome grfx
2. Actually incorporate gameplay. Grfx/animation take a hit as you optimize the engine for an actual game.
3. Once core gameplay engine is nailed, grfx/animations are rebuilt up to (hopefully) original levels.

When is this game due out?
