Fallout 3

Ding ding. I own a 360, this has nothing to do with me buying or not buying the DLC, I just hate the BS the companies are shoveling - just admit you were paid, we are adults.

do you own FO3 and if so which system, if 360 have you purchased the DLC? If 360 and yes you have DLC then you know what good news this is for PS3 fans of the game.

If you own the PS3 version of FO3 then again I say happy days for you.

If you do not own the game then it doesn't matter I guess.

Edit:
oh wait, now I see what all the hub bub is regarding this news...

IGN: Why is it that the first three pieces of DLC are finally hitting the PS3? Was it a timed exclusivity deal, or was something else worked out?

Todd Howard:
It's mostly the workload on us. Based on our Oblivion experience, it was clear that Xbox users were much more comfortable buying content, by a wide margin. It's a lot of work to get them ready for a particular platform and now that they've been so popular, we want to get them on the PS3.
why is that so hard to swallow or believe?

It's not, it's irrelevant. Why are you cheerleading and defending a company that doesn't care a whit about you? What exactly is your perspective here, besides acting like a fanboy? That because a company brings good news that we have to ignore all the stupid crap they do? Or, what? 'Shh, don't ask why the Good Bethesda has decided to grace PS3 owners with DLC afterall or they make take away their generous offer'?

It's less stupid now that Bethesda isn't refusing to sell extra content to PS3 owners but it doesn't explain why they were doing it in the first place. I'm not really a fan of the Grand Unified Economic Theory of Moneyhats but still I'd like to know why exactly they decided to shovel on the BS like that.

a Bethesda fanboy? knock it off please with the personal stuff... I just am amazed at the cynicism shown for a hobby that people should be enjoying. I could ask you, why are you guys are acting like fun-haters? ... and YES I love this game and am a fan and hope even more people can enjoy it and all the content the devs can make for it. it's that good IMO.

so sue me.

According to your 360 GT you have not played it on 360, have you played it on PS3 or PC? if not give it a try.

Considering the bevy of problems they had just launching the DLC, I'd wonder if it weren't such a bad idea to focus on just two platforms at the time. :???:

I know Oblivion had a ton of mods on the PC. Did Fallout3 get the same treatment?

yep... it has a huge mod community... I have not read too much about the detail though because then I'd probably need to go build an upgraded rig and get back into Pc gaming. :D

good point. :(

Dude, you're the one posting gif-replies. And if you think that for any reason devs/publishers are above reproach, then yes, you're acting like a fanboy. And that's what you're saying, here.

I've played FO3. I've finished it. It is fun, but it's a horribly, horribly flawed game. Buggy as hell, just like Oblivion was. They even ported bugs from Oblivion right over. Because the game is fun doesn't mean it's not a buggy mess, it doesn't make Bethesda into good developers. Especially not when the only version you can truly rely on is the PC one, because you know user-made mods will eventually show up to fix FO3's bad scripting/design and its general bugginess.

Well, considering that all 3 DLCs had problems, why not focus on just one, if that's the excuse? It's not like they've gotten it right yet. C'mon. Since when has Bethesda ever been bothered by bad QA?

I was trying to be light-hearted with you in the context of a couple of unhappy posts to this news.... I FAIL I suppose.

as for being beyond reproach?... what are you on about ...where did I say that?

they are bringing it to PS3 and ADDING 2 more DLCs for all plats ... 'nuff said... good news... happy days and all that... what the hell about that is bad? I don't get it or the negativity, that's all.

sorry you are not happy about it... I see your edit and sorry you hate the game/devs/console versions whatever. different strokes and all that. :D

How about Live integration :?: The differences between these two platforms in terms of delivery systems is likely incomparable to that of PSN. Just imagine how much worse it would have been. Anyways, it's clear you're not aiming to be pleased with the news of DLC hitting the platform, so there's no point continuing this.

Cool, but I'm not sure there is much value of leveling when you cannot raise your skills (above 100) or even attributes (above 10) especially when the world levels too.

my understanding that unlike Oblivion, FO3's enemies do not level with you.

It was more fun for me and they even added new and more difficult enemies into the game that you come across in new characters in old quests. (I made a new character and restarted after BS)

Enemies do level up with you. As you hit different level ranges, though, they place in more difficult enemies. So as you level up you'll run into Super mutants, Super Mutant Brutes and Super Mutant Masters. Yao Guai and Deathclaws more commonly than bloatflies and mole rats. From the Wiki though, before the DLC they seem to cap out at around level 16, for Tesla Enclave guys, I think.

yes that is true, they make more difficult enemies available but they do not give the level 6 ghouls more strength when you hit level 10 or 20, for example, which is how I understood that. Actually the strong enemies are available at lower levels too it's just only when you go into areas that you don't belong yet (not strong enough)

although BS DLC adds new Ghoul reavers and other enemies who are frikken ridiculous to kill as you get to higher 20-30 levels.

I just encountered the ghoul reavers tonight, damn they are tough. Fortunately I had enough speech skill and was able to convince the security computer that I was friendly, and the security robots helped me take the reavers out after that. Don't think I could have taken them out alone, especially since I had left my Alien Blaster back at my Megaton house :(

That's exactly same as Oblivion level scaling, though I believe Fallout 3 also supports level locking once you enter an area or something.

I don't know what the enemy level cap is, but when I played Fallout 3 I maxed energy weapons rather quickly making one shot criticals plenty early on, though the game kept getting "more difficult" at every level and there wasn't anything I could do.
I was done with the game around level 16-17 though.

I don't really know about that, I would clear out most buildings I entered.

Even at top level, though, you can become so powerful that, at best, you'll kill anything with an AP bar (especially if you get the +25 AP mask) and refill it thanks to the level 20 perk. Maybe the expansion is noticeably more difficult... but I have a hard time seeing how the game can scale difficulty from a character designed entirely around getting the most criticals and stealth one-shot-kills possible to one who is less optimized.

The levelling sucked pretty much. I killed a deathclaw near Megaton with the pistol I got from the vault at level 1. Talking about anticlimatic..

I finished FO3 at level 14 and missed many side quest, the DLC seems to be good only for completest. The main game is plenty long. But again, the GOTY version is the only thing that makes sense since the DLC is $10 a shot and there are five. In a sense the 360 crowd got taken a bit thinking there were three and not knowing about the GOTY version.
