But what RPG I might be familiar with would Enchant Arms most resemble? I think I'll pick the game up, but with the right woords, may even become excited about it!
Lol, sorry man I'm too far removed from the PS2 to give you comparable games, other than FF I haven't played any JRPG's in years. Accprding to the review above, it most resembles "Shin Megami Tensei" if that means anything to you!
I dunno, it's your fairly standard JRPG, extremely linear, with some very impressive Vista's. The coolest part is collecting golems, which you can find by defeating them in battle, or finding them in chests, or even through the Casino.
Each golem has specific attacks/spells, and can be leveled up. So, you must chose which golems to spend time on, can have up to 8 in your party at a time, but only 3 can fight with you. The rest chill back at the garage, not gaining experience, you can swap these in and out at any time through the menu.
There are also elemental golems, that have extremely hard temples that you come across before you are strong enough to enter them, so this gives you a good reason to backtrack once you've leveled up, the elemental golems are definately the strongest, so getting your hands on them is fun. Though, they start off at LVL1, so you have to dedicate some time to strengthening them.
One wierd thing about the game is it has no defence skill, instead it relies on spells to bolster your defence, for example, one of the four elemental golems has a spell which will give 50% protect to every member in the party, this essentially doubles your hitpoints, so is an extremely effective ability.
There's also a super golem(can't remember the actual name), that I never was strong enough to defeat, he lives at the bottom of a 10 floor temple, each floor is several levels deeps, and guarded by increasingly stronger golems, I made it to the 9th floor or something, but wasn't powerful enough to make it past the guard.
The boss battles in general have some serious challenge to them, but tactics can play a huge role. The golems you choose make all the difference in the world.
That's about the best I can give ya!
p.s. When starting the game, teh dialogue is going to seem extremely stupid, just keep in mind it's all toungue in cheek, as you'll eventually realize, and it's not nearly so annoying. Essentially the game is poking fun at the concept of the dumb protaganist.
