Is it me or do i fail to see what's so good about this Zelda? Since they promised us that gorgeous "realtime" demo prior to GC Launch, i've been waiting for a "mature looking" Zelda, and now this is what comes out of it?
Meh...
Maybe i REALLY need to see the video, cause the screens are pretty crappy.

I don't think they promised it would look that good. It was only a tech demo showing off what's possible on GCN like that Rebirth demo.

Oh, they promised... :devilish:
But anyway, i guess i need to see the video...

I liked to see that if you wouldn't mind providing a link. I don't recall them promising that that would be what the next zelda game looked like.

In some IGN interview they said that some guy way playing the game and basically videotaping himself while he was doing so and then making the trailer from that footage. So it's all good.

Found it:
I'm sure all of you saw the video of the new Legend of Zelda game at this point. One thing that I'd like to point out to everybody is that none of that is CG. It's all done in real-time and running on the [game] engine. That movie was actually created by somebody who took a version of the game, played it, videotaped and then cut the pieces together to make the movie.

Go away :devilish:

When it finally comes out, I can group Wind Waker with the other two CDI Zelda, as something that never happend. :D

But I have to wait till then, who knows what crazy idea that team can do to the game.

Do you have a link to that interview?

edit: I'm a little confused by that quote, because what movie is he referring to? The one that was shown on Tuesday at their conference, or the one I assume london-boy is talking about (Spaceworld 2000 or 2001 tech demo footage)

It's on the frontpage of IGN. He is talking about the new movie of course.

So that quote you posted earlier, was that in response to my asking for a link to the interview or quote that london-boy was talking about(i.e. where nintendo promised blah blah blah) ?

I is getting very confused :?:

It was in response to your question.

I just watched the full Nintendo conference. I couldn't be more impressed. Mr Fils-Aime was extremely impressive as well, as Marconelly said recently, he was very charismatic.

I'm a lot more excited about DS after seeing that conference. It looked much nicer in reality then in the pics of it I'd seen before. At one point Reggie Fils-Aimes just pulled one of them out of his inside pocket and it looked quite small and lite.

It was excellent when they revealed the new Zelda totally out of the blue at the end of the conference. They just started up a game and let people slowly realise what it was. And when they did the roof almost came off the building :)

Basically it was an amazing and very aggressive performance from Nintendo and I only hope its a sign of things to come.

In that case I don't understand the relevance of that quote, which you told me yourself was in regards to the new zelda movie shown at E3 a few days ago(I've just read the interview that it was taken from). london-boy was talking about tech demo footage shown before the GC launch at spaceworld 2000(or 2001 can't remember which) and he said that nintendo has promised a version of zelda with those exact same graphics. I said I'd never heard of that happening, and would like a link to an interview or a quote in which a nintendo representative "promised" us a zelda game with those graphics. IIRC the tech demo had link and ganondorf fighting each other, and most people including myself thought that those would be the graphics for the next gamecube zelda game, which obviously wasn't the case.

Maybe you can see the reason for my confusion, as it really doesn't seem to prove london-boy's point, because it's got nothing to do with the spaceworld tech demo he's referring to.

Not sure if this has been posted already or not but the following video shows the zelda part of the conference with the crowd reaction which is not in the official video. They went absolutely nuts

Even if Link was turned into a Transvestite, dressed in pink, with high heels, using a magic pink wand as weapon, the public would go nuts. It's Zelda.

*Hits london-boy on the head.* Don't give Nintendo any ideas! ;)

If that somehow were to happen, I have a feeling many six year old girls would buy the game. o_O

 Well, if they want to appeal to the "casual" gamer............. ;)

I remember the unveiling of Wind Waker and while people were excited to see a Zelda game the reaction was nothing like it was with this new game. As the video played and it slowly sunk in what this game was the whole place errupted. By the end of the video it must have been absolutely defening in there, with everyone screaming and clapping (I swear I could even hear people dancing around as well :)).

Oops i forgot the link to the video: http://media.gameinformer.com/downloads/downloads2014/movies/zelda2/maturezelda.mpg (25MB) The audience is actually rather quiet ... until they realize that's link riding on that horse!

Something else i found:
Lights dimmed, whispers stilled, and an army of monsters burst on to the screen shadowed by a blood red sun. The new Legend of Zelda preview had begun and stolen the oxygen out of the room. When the lights went up, I saw something I haven't seen since the first theatrical teaser trailer of STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE screened...

Grown men were weeping. One remarked, "My baby is finally becoming a man."
