For real??? That's just too good to be true!
Yeah, it was announced when DOOM for Xbox Live Arcade was also announced.

From some strange reason i feel that Criminal Crackdown is the game that Jaffe has been working on.
Sony should put Loco Roco on its Arcade service at launch.
It must have been fantastic for his team when they first heard him talking about this new game concept he just had: "Picture this! Imagine Bomberman meeting... Twisted Metal! Am I a genius or what, dudes?"IIRC he said something like it's in a Bomberman/Twisted Metal type of mold...
So, it's a sort of top down maze game that include cars fighting each others.Criminal crackdown screens...

I'm taking a guess, but it looks like it could be a cop + robbers type mp game.
Yeah, looks that way. Of course it will take some videos or first hand impressions to determine the fun factor or not.So, it's a sort of top down maze game that include cars fighting each others.
Right around the turn of the year, either late this month or early January, Sony Online Entertainment will bring its high octane racer GripShift to the system via the PlayStation Store for $9.99. For those who aren't familiar with the original PSP release, the racer mixes stunt driving with puzzle elements and even some platforming while you race around over undulating suspended tracks. Tracks feature multiple routes, shortcuts, loops, jumps, ramps and such aimed to keep you on your toes.
While the game first appeared on Sony's handheld, GripShift for the PS3 will be more than a simple port. For starters, the game has been optimized to run in full 720p resolution at 60fps, fast enough for even the most ardent speed fans. The vehicle handling is said to be improved with more responsive controls, a welcome enhancement to be certain. The PS3 version will also feature more than 125 new and re-mixed levels spanning over 25 race tracks. And for you competitive types, four player online gaming will be present as well.
Each title was specifically chosen because of its multiplayer capability, allowing players to experience each of these classics with their friends in the comfort of their own living room, or anywhere else through an internet connection. All of the titles will be offered for PLAYSTATION 3 system download exclusively through the PLAYSTATION Network.
Loco Roco on PS3 would rock. I think it would work very well with the sixaxis controller. Even better than the PSP controls.
I've bought Tekken and Lemmings so far.
They are both totally worth what I paid for them.
I wonder if we will ever see stats for how many sales these downloadable game are making.

Gauntlet: 4 players multiplayer support, original arcade rom running on emulation, co-op buttonmashing fun. We approve!
Rampage World Tour: original 1997 arcade rom, three player support, ability to beat each other up, eat people and punch buildings and airplanes. We approve!
Joust: If you don't know what Joust is, we're going to kick your ass. Seriously. 2 player multiplayer support, flying ostriches, 200 point eggs, good stuff. Original arcade rom. How could we not approve? Sony, make it clap.
Mortal Kombat II: Original arcade rom, full gore and fatalities are in there, all the sound effects you've been screaming at your friends since the 90's. We're really excited about this one because the Xbox 360 guys went with the SNES rom, which frankly, sucks balls and is a waste of 360 hardware. Thank you Sony for getting it right -- we know that when it's time to do Street Fighter II on the PS3 we're going to be very, very happy.
Rampart: Best. Game. Ever. We played all six games on test hardware and our favorite, by far, was Rampart. The basic concept of the game is building walls around castles using a Tetris-like timed construction mode, then button mashing cannon shots to the guy across the way. It's so simple, but so addicting. We can't wait to have this at home and party like it's 1990. The game was originally trackball-based and ported perfectly to the analog. It works, approved! Two player premodern RTS bliss. If this game catches on it would be cool to see USB trackball support added on in the future.
Championship Sprint: The toughest game to port was this old school Midway racing game which had the infinite spin wheel at the arcade with extreme sensitivity. On the analog, we found it tricky to control and ate the walls constantly. After a few minutes we were able to recoup a little and improve, so we're confident that it's going to work if you're dedicated and practice. This is the one title you're not goint to be able to rock right off the bat. It would be interesting with steering wheel support (Logitech USB wheel, etc) were supported.
So what's new? Online multiplayer support out of the box, trashtalking via Bluetooth mic, and competitive leaderboards -- with more coming soon. SOE would not comment on price or exact release date for each title, but you can expect "somewhere between $1 and $10" with releases trickling in starting in March.
Look for more insider SOE stuff later this week.
There is no way they are selling those titles separately right?
I'm not paying more than 4 quarters to play a few rounds of Joust again. 6 games for $6 USD would be about right for me.
They're selling them separately, like on Live Arcade, with online support and all that. I'm guessing they'll be something like $4.99 or so.
Considering they all have online multiplayer, leaderboards, and the traditional offline multiplayer, I'd say anything between 2.99-4.99 would be perfect imo.
