Well, supposedly the PS3 version has faster loading (according to LoT, take of that what you will). And some scenes (as DF said) run better on PS3, like the horseback scene in one of the videos.

LoT mentions that when installed to HD 360 and PS3 load times are identical. Which is still impressive by the way, if you've looked at how some games that led on 360 or PC have performed on PS3 in the past.

The PS3 version's framerate does better with physics and motion blur, the 360 does better with large vistas.

Any mention of leading on PS3 loses some of its meaning of course if this is a refined version of their previous engine, and they are still using Quincunx, but it's definitely a good multi platform showing regardless.

Congrats to Laa-Yosh btw for contributing CG work to a 10/10 game, must be satisfying!

Not surprising that PS3 drops performance while rendering large vistas considering its limitations with vertex shading. Anyways I've always thought Quincunx worked rather well with Assassin's Creed, guess the developers think the same as well.

woah ! I didn't knew he worked on it. Congrats to you Laa-Yosh !

LoT has a nasty habit of comparing PS3 games with mandatory installs, to 360 games running right off the DVD, in which case PS3 is naturally usually the winner.

IMO to be (more) apples to apples they need to install it to 360 too, or at least give us both installed and uninstalled numbers on 360 and let us compare ourselves. Which judging by your post they may have done on brotherhood, but they werent in the past.

Does anyone actually have the game yet? As far as I know it has launched yesterday or so.

/off
Thanks everyone ;) although I always thought we contribute more to the marketing instead of the actual game... help build the hype and introduce features early on and such. But it still is fun ;) especially when I know stuff that you guys won't hear about for months or a year, and I have to really fight the urge to tell everyone about some really cool things... :p

I have a question: is it possible theorically to use the triple buffering in the Ubi engine? Could be a great improvement on the ps3...Because even the first uncharted suffered a lot of tearing, but thank to the Guerrilla support, ND has learned 'trick', to use triple buffer without great sacrifice... I don't know how trick they refered, but if in an engine like uncharted with horrible tearing in the 'first' version it has been possible, why not in AC or in a ubi game?

Where did AC2 PS3 outperform the 360 version? The video it links to doesn't show any situation where the PS3 does better.

The only time I noticed was during the horse ride sequence with the exploding walls. It's a fairly marginal difference in the grand scheme, but interesting none-the-less.

The PS3 version's framerate does better with physics and motion blur, the 360 does better with large vistas.

With the motion blur, I've noticed that the PS3 version is actually applied to the full screen, at least during those brief moments in the horse sequence. The 360 version there seems to use the blur around the edges of the screen instead (radial blurring keeping some measure of focus at the center of the screen).

I'd be interested to see their post-fx setup on PS3 (maybe SPE's?) as there does appear to be upscale artifacting around SSAO'd areas in the city-view, which isn't apparent for larger screen-space objects (i.e. character shots). On 360, there are no edge artifacts.

Triple buffering could make the already annoying parkour and platforming sequences even more annoying by introducing another 33,3 ms of lag...

Also, have they improved the woeful water effects from AC2?

I was just watching my friend play AC2 and realised that there is absolutely no water simulation going on at all, if you fall in the water it just triggers a splash animation and a ripple texture, the water surface itself is non interactive. Which is fairly ridiculous seeing as the game is set in Venice.

Other open world games like GTA4 have excellent water effects, even shooters like Halo 3/Reach and Gears of War 2 have more impressive water.

Quite shocking really, I remember reading an interview where they said how much they improved their water technology to better portray Venice.

Not surprising that PS3 drops performance while rendering large vistas considering its limitations with vertex shading. Anyways I've always thought Quincunx worked rather well with Assassin's Creed, guess the developers think the same as well.

Can't the SPE's be used to process geometry? Like Killzone does?

Why? In uncharted 3 there aren't no problem :???: I mean, theorically could be possible or not in AC Brotherhood? And why not in this case?

UC2 has very different platforming compared to AC2/2.5. Also, PS3 might be suffering from lack of memory already, an additional buffer could still be too much.

I don't understand why in neogaf there are a lot of people who complain about the fps on the ps3 in Rome :???: so in the ps3 really stuttering so much compared to 360 version? Is it really true this problem?

I have encountered a few stutters in Rome on the ps3 version but nothing too significant though. Also I believe MLAA should work magic in this game as well as OBM.

Yea since they are at it they could add tessellation and higher resolution textures.Oh yea and fully destructible environments, yea that would work magic /jk ;)

Need for speed: hot pursuit face off is out.
Criterion is pretty impressive, on 30FPS game they managed to lower the input lag to 83ms! Damned good :)
The game overall looks impressive I get to check the demo asap.

Heard the same for 360 version from some other websites.
