I admit that I thought referring to Days Gone as the "PS5 version" was a bit misleading, especially when stating that the 'texture setting of the PS5 version is lower than the lowest setting on PC.' So, I do get the confusion caused.

That said, Last of Us 2 patch today! Woot! Unfortunately the same 1440p resolution, but I'll take it.
I think there is no possibility to run ps5 game in bc with higher resolution than ps4 pro (only exception dynamic res when it will be more often in upper range)

Surprise!

Good. Now please Sony do it for Death Stranding because I'm holding on to a copy since October in anticipation for playing it at 60FPS.
I'm starting to feel ridiculous holding on from playing the game as is. Which means I probably am being ridiculous and should just start playing the damn thing.

BTW, I enjoy the fact that John didn't call this a "PS5 version", instead calling it for what it is: a patched PS4 Pro game.
j/k

For me from reading whats written here about days gone it sounds like a bit of a big nothing-burger, prolly just a mispeak/mistype if anything.
The video's creator made it pretty clear it wasn't a misspeak.
It is material for some light jokes though. There's nothing more B3D-ish than spending 3 pages arguing about the semantics of what is a "X platform game" and what is a "X-1 platform game running faster on X". It is probably the epitome of a 1st-world nerd problem meme.
I also don't think anyone here is actually mad about it.

I thought you had a high end Turing based GPU? I'm playing it at 60fps / 3840x1600 maxed out on a mere GTX 1070. With Turing and DLSS 120fps should be easily achievable.

You clearly missed last nights craziness.

Most FPS-boosted game are quite literally Xbox One version untouched, FPS Boost is a system level feature. Whereas if the game is patched to know that it’s running on a Series console (XboxOneGen9Aware), it’s a consensus that it can be called the Series X|S version, even if the improvements are small.
Can you play a disc-based XB1 game on XSX without some kind of patch? No, scratch that. Can you play a recently boosted XB1 game without any kind of patch (or update) first?

Yes, why not? DF made a video about playing the disc version of Assassin's Creed: Unity on the XSX.

Yes.

I recently started playing Prey (2017),which hasn't received a patch in years. Thanks to FPS Boost and the SSD it runs like a dream.

Edit: DF has a video about it.

yea not sure how it works. When they released the FPS boost title updates, it just click immediately for Dragon Age, it just started running 60. No patching required.

But does it require the system (Xbox) to be updated? Have anyone tried to benefit from a recently boosted game with no Internet connection?
I don't quite get what you're trying to ask but put it this way: If I have Prey (2017) installed on a external hard drive connected to a X1S that hasn't been turned on for three years, I unplug the drive and connect it to a XSX which is disconnected from the internet but has the latest system update, Prey will just play in 60 FPS there.

My point still stands as in both cases (PS5 and Xbox) an update is needed to get the FPS boost. The difference of patch implementation is obviously caused by the very different methods of BC. Hardware BC for PS5, software emulation BC for Xbox. The rest is just semantics.

To experience FPS Boost and to be able to toggle the feature on and off, make sure your console has taken the latest update and you’ve rebooted your console.

My point still stands too: the game's file package is literally untouched, the line you quoted implies system update, not game. And that's conceptually different from a patched game, i.e. FPS Boost ≠ XboxOneGen9Aware/PS5 BC+, whether how you like to interpret the two.

What surprise me the most is that ACG has performances problems not seen on the df vidéo, or not to this extend. Weird.

For reference, Sony directly calls this "a PS5 performance patch"

Instead of... "a non-PS4 performance patch" ?:runaway:

Horizon Zero Dawn is now the last recent--ish man standing at 30fps.
