when Xcloud can offer 4k streaming with low enough latency, the XsS will give almost the same experience as the XsX.
I can see MS then releasing only a pack with a controller and a Gamepass subscription and the TV app.

Xcloud tv app has already been mentioned by xbox. Think xcloud box also. So not much guessing required.

Which is all well and good, but will not replace local box for all types of games and net infrastructure for now.

It's less about IQ and more about latency being the issue.

I dont understand, how is that 'exactly'. Does pixel density mean something else than number of pixels in a region you've confused me
sorry, shouldn't have added 'density'.

It's just 2x the number of pixels.

400% zoom moment was funny ;d (but about better cb in 60 fps, even with 400% zoom I can't notice difference to be honest)
It is really subtile and the youtube-compression destroys the image quality. But as they explain (also this was already part of some discussions here) more frames => less pixel changes from frame to frame => better data for reconstruction => sharper image quality.

But not much to gain here without a better LOD which PS5 could easily handle.

Something I did agree with Rich about was Xbox fps boost.
I think it would have been better to get a good base amount, then every 2 weeks do batches of around 5 or so.
  • From a PR POV it's always being discussed and looking forward to in media as well as gamers.
  • From a players POV everyone collectively playing, going back, trying, discussing same older set of games. So it highlights those titles.

I'm hoping that the delay in another batch is due to them taking on board my issues with it.
Give XSX 120hz (VRR) display option to run it without dropping to 1S version. Not sure why this would take so long to implement to be honest.

XSS as well as fps boost include resolution boost of 40%, if its unstable for a title can reduce it.

Remember this list
and this list
The second one is much better but not enough IMO.
Of the 3 updates which one hit more of your library or contained more games that you would like to buy?
FPS boost might be discussed among gamers but if the games are ho hum people might start to lose interest in it. While I don't think interest in FPS boost will ever disappear, if Microsoft does their job right this generation interest in FPS boost will diminish over time. So I say as many games as possible as soon as possible. If the FPS boost team have lets say 2000 games in the Xbox One catalog to go through the bigger the batches the better.

If you had a regular cadence of 2 weeks doesn't matter if a particular drop didn't have anything you liked(ho hum drop), as there would be another one coming very soon.

It would be like the BC program on X1 that had a lot of continuous discussion and anticipation.

It's much like why a lot of streaming services are now dropping shows weekly instead of season all at once.

I still disagree but this part brings up a sore point. The fact that Microsoft ended the 360/OG Xbox backwards compatibility program with no official word of when they will start it up again if ever. IMO there is still much that can be done there. The worst thing about it is without them telling gamers which games are not going to be BC because of licensing issues or the publisher saying no or what not, gamers don't always know why a game they like did not make the BC list.

Back to my original point, BC is another reason to get as many out as soon as possible. Who knows what the future will bring. Maybe they will be releasing FPS boost updates all the way to the end of the generation maybe they won't and a great deal of games that possibly could work with FPS boost will be stuck at 30fps. Maybe they could go through the entire catalog and get FPS boost working on what they can and just sit on it though. Releasing only 5 a week but as you know I'm kind of meh to that whole deal.

It is hard to comment when your most likely still in negotiations with right holders on games. If you go out and say we are working on getting game y then fans will blow up social media and then you just raised the value on the property

Your comparing the end (after years) of BC to the start of BC & fps boost (month or so).

They already had 70+ ready that could have been spread out, already done nothing to go wrong.

Anyway obviously this is all a matter of opinion, just based on preference and what think would ultimately be best approach.

Edit: when I say end of BC I don't mean it's finished.

Exmpox doesnt have da powuh of PiEsFaiv secret Cerny Sauce!
Jokes aside I am really curious why.
Bug? Omission? It has more than enough performance. But it is also curious why thye PS5 slightly outperforms the Series X in framerate. Maybe RT had a bigger performance impact and it they deliberately disabled it until they figured out why and patch it later

Q: How will these enhancements impact a player’s experience with Little Nightmares II?

A: The combination of visual and audio improvements will bring more details to each scene, more fluidity to the gameplay and more immersion in the Little Nightmares universe. In Little Nightmares II on Xbox Series X|S, the player will even be able to use the Graphics mode option to choose between Beauty mode and Performance mode. On Beauty the player will experience the game at 30fps at 4K resolution with optimized ray tracing, on Performance the game will be locked at 60fps with dynamic resolution up to 4K and ray tracing.

lol. shrug. I mean for sure the intention is for them to have these features as per the launch Q&A with Xbox. Not sure what happened there, perhaps just a situation of failure to launch.

They didn't say ray tracing reflections here, did they? Because for the PS5 game they actually specified it. By the way I actually think it's either a mistake or omission from them and they'll probably patch in later.

ray-traced reflections

Anyways devs (and marketing people) should learn to be very specific because RT can be used in plenty different things, including audio.

they technically didn't outline anything in that marketing push. I'm not sure what the intentions are. I don't know if they wanted to make parity between Series S and X or what not. Whatever the case is, there is a lack of detail around expectations and what was delivered. People are only noticing because versions are different between the consoles.

That's hugely impressive that the NSW version runs better (locked 30 FPS compared to drops down to the mid teens) and looks better (higher resolution, greater texture fidelity, better AA, better lighting, etc.) than the PS3/X360 versions.

Not everything is better (DOF is worse, but that's no big loss as DOF should be off in all games, IMO :p), but overall it's much better than the PS3/X360 version.

SB
