Diablo III - It's official

The only thing from console that I'd really like to see in the PC version is direct character control. Move with keyboard, aim with mouse.

Now if only they'd bring over the gamepad/console UI to PC. :p

It's Diablo 3. There's so little complexity to playing the game it's not like the PC version would lose anything and only gain.

Considering it was designed with an eye towards porting to console, the lowered complexity isn't surprising. Most people figured that out as soon as they saw the 2 main skills (right/left mouse button/console trigger) and 4 additional skill slots (4 console face buttons) along with the inability to easily swap skills in and out like D2.

Then again, their limited skill advancement system compared to D2, would have made their whole skill system a mockery if they went with the D2 method of being able to use any skill at anytime.

Yeah, that's my main issue with the game on PC. It's just needlessly annoying as it's too easy to accidentally move towards enemies instead of clicking on them exactly. Sure that's mitigated by the "stand & attack" button, but it just seems clumsy and more of a band-aid solution.

I don't relish the idea of doing that for 100s of hours anymore (after Diablo 2), plus I do have a much more capable PC (than console) hooked up to the TV/surround system. I'd rather not pick up the console edition for obvious reasons, but from a gameplay/usability standpoint, it seems better overall.

Yes, the drops are very good onthe ps3. I have legendaries equipped in allslots except my main weapon.Still haven't found a legendary for that.

in fact , now I am finding some rare items which are better than my legendaries of lower level and i find myself reluctantly removing the legendaries and equipping the rare ones. Somehow its painful , I don't want to wear those yellow stuff ...I want legendaries :( !

IMO, that's just way too silly. Legendaries are supposed to be incredibly rare. Having them drop too often just trivializes them, IMO.

Making the low level legendaries super rare was stupid, it made them meaningless. Oh I got a legendary... 1h later you level 3 or 4 times and pick up a blue that's better than it anyway.

The legendaries aren't dime a dozen, but yes I got lucky here n there. I still don't have a legendary weapon which I crave. I am at level40 now. BTW, the legendaries were still special as they took me through most of th egame. It is only now for the first time at level40 that I found something that is better in a few aspects. Still not outright better as my legendary quiver has way more buffs.

The charm of legendaries hasn't faded a bit, if at all, I feel more excited any time loot drops and I run to see if there's a legendary. Once u equip a legendary you don't have to worry about about that slot for the rest of time.
The weird thing was that those treasure goblins have never given me anyhitng worthwhile. Every good item has been a randomn drop form some dude or a mini-mini boss. Thanx to that now I find running after those goblins pretty useless.

To compare i've spent about 250 hours in the PC version and i've found 1 set item and maybe 10-15 legendaries. So if you've found enough of them to fill every gear slot (except weapon) before level 40 they really do seem like they are dropping like crazy.

In comparison maybe, but should you really be expected to play 250 hours?

This is exactly why I think the console version handles this much better. I played through the game ones with my Wizard. During this playthrough I had the enjoyment and excitement of finding legendaries. Compared to the loot amount, they are still super rare and drop like every 1-2 hours in average. But at the end, it is just makes fun...and that should be the goal right?

Playing 250 hours to get gear has no fun for me, although I can see the hunter&gatherer effect by myself when I farmed Borderlands 2 bosses for over 50 hours to get legendaries...but I really really do appreciate how Blizzard handles the console version.

Fantastic game, fantastic port...everything I wanted.

The drop rate in my game is much much less. Where do you check how many you have spent in the game? I just got lucky at a point as two legendaries dropped within 2 hours. One was given to me in online co op by someone. And some(I thnk 3 or 4) were pre order bonuses, so I said I have legendaries in all slots.
Legendaries are super rare in my game, but yes, atleast I know they will drop sometime, unlike th ePC version where it was not rare, it was almost unlikely !

I don't suppose they could alleviate the stuttering between areas? It's somewhat irritating in the PC demo (especially when it's not there on console). :???:

[the Auction House system] ultimately undermines Diablo's core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot

That's not true. AH would have worked fine if they hadn't gimped the loot system so as not to give the player any useful drops, so that players would be forced to the AH and where Blizzard could get their cut.

The AH itself was working, it was the gimping of normal player drops that was broken.

There are a lot of loot games like Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2 that let you buy your way to good loot (even if not allowing you to actually spend real money to do so). They are not gameplay broken because they didn't screw the player with useless drops if they didn't want to buy loot.

Still won't stop people from buying items with real money or gold. Just makes it more difficult for most people. And opens them up to more scams. It's not like you couldn't buy just about anything you wanted in Diablo 2 with real money or gold.

With the removal of the AH, hopefully, they'll also put back in the Diablo 2 "gambling" merchant. Otherwise there is nothing to spend gold on.

so what other steps do blizzard need to take to turn this into diablo2 ( thus fixing the games problems) .

1. makes whites usefull ( runes words)
2. aura's
3. cube
