Diablo 4 [XO, XBSX|S, PC, PS4, PS5, XGP]

None of the NM dungeons you did were hard because it starts you off at Tier 1 and slowly gives you higher tiers as they drop, but the jump isn't much. Tier 1 NM is probably easier than normal outside enemies. You have to craft higher tiers if you're not finding any challenge. That's the purpose, finding a higher tier that challenges you, or even proves too much of a challenge and working your way up to that then beyond. WT3 max is Tier 20, so build a 16-20 and try it out. If you run 5 of those and none of them are difficult for you, then go do the capstone dungeon and move to WT4.

I've done more than tier 1. I think 8-10 range? Don't remember.

Getting into World Tier 4 requires completing the Capstone Dungeon, which has a somewhat difficult boss at the end, far worse than anything fought previously. Depending on the class/build, this can prove very much a challenge. I died many times before adjusting my build for the better and finally completing it. I've helped some friends complete the boss to get them into WT4, but I also explained that it's meant to be a challenge to prepare for WT4.

Meanwhile you're farming Helltides and Whispers for materials and gold, and targeting specific slots for chances for better versions of your gear.

Then once the new season starts, you get to do the whole thing over again with a new character/class/build!

THAT is Diablo.
perfecting your build is essential. Maybe Silent, orang and Scott has found the key to a great build.

Yesterday I tried fire sorc again and my approach was a total failure. Only the frost sorc is left to test.

However from trying the fire sorc again, I learnt that I could use the enchantment from Fireball with a lightning sorc build, and this slightly improved my previous lightning sorc -my best build to date-.

You don't have to limit yourself to a thematic build either. It doesn't have to be "fire" or "frost" sorc, they can be used in combination in various ways. My lightning storm Druid utilized Companions to enhance and trigger effects like more chance of Vulnerable, Immobile for extra damage. Or like Ravens guaranteeing crits in that area for the duration. Diablo is all about symbiosis of affixes to stack damage in different ways. You can't progress very far simply relying on damage output of a skill without it interacting with some debuff or enhancer from another skill/affix.

Nothing special, after playing a lot (a LOT) of POE, I just automatically build a partly tanky build. This means for most content I can just face tank it and heal faster than the mobs can damage me. Kind of amazing since I have yet to see any items with life on hit or life leech. My god this game would be brain dead easy if they did have those, though.

For tank, since the most dangerous thing I've ever run across in being CC'd for too long, I socket some gems that increase my tankiness when CC'd. Anything that spawns a lot of mobs is relatively fast to kill as my AOE does more damage if it hits more enemies (and heals me) so solo bosses can be a bit of a slog, but it's not like any of the bosses in WT3 can really hurt me, so meh.

I'm not even going for any of the super tanky or super survivable builds either. Basically my skills choices come down to "does it heal me?" or "does it generate fortitude?". I'm not even trying to synergize anything. If I was, WT3 would be even easier. Hopefully that changes in WT4. Just have to see if I have it in me to get to WT4.

Shame since WT3 seems like it might have been a decent "normal" difficulty at the start of the game (before you have all the bonuses from the Altars of Lilith), although now that I'm going through it, I wonder if even that is too easy.

If they reintroduce seasons and you have to start each season with nothing (no altars of Lilith bonuses, etc.) but can start on any WT difficulty, that might get me more interested. I'd probably just start off on WT4. That sounds like it might actually have been suitably challenging at the start of the game.

that's one of the most interesting things about Diablo, which started after the famous 1.10 patch in Diablo 2 and its synergies. It is a system that has a lot of potential. Initially I went with a pure fire sorc, then pure lightning sorc.., pure bow rogue -then switched to using traps too-. Even if you don't create a fire sorc build you can get a demon burning using a basic fire skill and then with fire pasives that increase the damage, you can do a lot more of any type of elemental damage.

@orangpelupa I've never played Destiny -not interested in the genre for now, maybe I'll recover my love for it some day-, but if itemization is essential in that game, then Destiny might have a LOT of influence from Diablo games, which afaik started the itemization craze for how it worked.

which passive do you use to regenerate life? The fire sorc has a passive for that, while not useless, it doesn't have many practical purposes for survival, you are going to lose more life than you recover.

...

I'm playing Rogue and I have a chest piece I haven't swapped because it allows me to heal:
Explosions from the Victimize Key Passive Heal you for X Life for each enemy damaged, up to a maximum of X * 3 Life. (Can't remember the number on mine)

Victimize Key is:
Dealing direct damage to a Vulnerable enemy has up to a 30% chance to cause an explosion, dealing 23% of the original damage to them and surrounding enemies.

I just use the basic attack that causes vuln, and then hit with my core skill and get a nice heal out of it. It's my worst item, but I won't drop it because I already imprinted the aspect once, and there's no codex for it. Other than that I don't really mess with the items I have. I just roll with what it gives me and make sure I have one for a core skill.

First season begins July 20 - Season of the Malignant

A deviant form of Lilith’s sinister machinations has given birth to a new threat, Malignant Monsters. These decaying abominations roam Sanctuary in a frenzy, mindlessly attacking anyone in range without hesitation. Wanderers will investigate this mysterious malady in a new Questline with the help of Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, who also trains you to capture the Malignant Hearts fueling these foul beasts and convert them into build-altering powers. The malignancy that’s taken hold of the Burning Hells’ armies cannot remain unchecked—you must snuff it out at the source before all of Sanctuary becomes its thrall.

Definitely running rogue, Druid, Barb for s1.

I’m not going to tough out another season of sorc unless there is a massive change

the sorc is fun but yeah, not very strong, I am experimenting, this time with a frost sorc using Frozen Orb, Frost Bolt, Frost Nova, Blizzard and Deep Freeze -with Fire Shield for the enchantment-. Tbh I don't know what I am building but I had some nice items with interesting aspects for this build. Still I got some items in previous levels -lvl 61 now- and they are weaker, but my sorc needs a good overhaul items wise, 'cos I am going through a tough time surviving. I insist it's fun though. Need items: specially a new wand and focus. :giggle:

Until Blizzard fixes that, the only option to truly see the viability of your character is removing that piece of equipment and see how it goes.

Seasonal character will start the game with:

  • The option to skip the Campaign.
  • Your Mount available immediately.
  • All previously discovered Altars of Lilith unlocked, and the corresponding Renown for them.
  • All previously discovered areas of the map revealed, and the corresponding renown for them.

those are really good QoL stuff.

so basically new characters will be in the same "access/privilege" state as the main character that has completed the campaign

It’s the same as starting a new character as of right now. All that will carry over, except map reveal.

now im more pumped to finish on one character ASAP!
So the option to skip all the campaign and map stuff encourages you to finish the campaign, but not all the actual additional gameplay options you get once you've done so on your higher level character? ok.

i mean, i already stated i got bored by the campaign, so its obvious that i do not want to replay the campaign for new characters.
as for additional gameplay options, i think i already very obvious that im interested in those. for example, ive mentioned that they should have unlocked tier 3 from the start.

i think there were miscommunication or something. so things that i think i was already pretty clear, seems got misunderstood.

basically, to summarize:

  • i like the game early on, but it became more and more boring as i progressed thru the campaign
  • the game actually do offer more fun gameplay, but not available from the begining.
  • the game allows 2nd character to skip the campaign and have the same access as the main character to the more fun stuff
  • thus im pumped to reach that fun part ASAP, so i can try with different characters (without the mandatory boring stuff all over again)

Diablo IV has been accused of promoting satanism. I thought this was a thing of the past but yeah, some hilarious comments.

Also a new 1.0.4 patch has been released. It fixes many things. Also, you can now get Unique items in hell tides.

I've decided to take a rest of Diablo 4 til July 20th. I am going to play NBA 2k23 instead.

so after hitting 75 i got two rings in a row with bold chieftains aspect on it after not getting a single one before that ever, coincidence??!? or does it only drop at 75 and over?

makes the ww more fun because i can shout all the time now basically
