Diablo 4 [XO, XBSX|S, PC, PS4, PS5, XGP]

Act 2 completed. The story is fine, the cinematics of Diablo 2 are still superior -not the story itself-.

That being said, Diablo touches simple things and simple lives, as you can see in the world of Sanctuary. You see people with cows, goats, dogs, wolves, and so on and so forth. What I could change is the immature, imho, way of presenting things. I am kinda tired of saving worlds. Can quite understand those battling for "superior" causes, like those of heaven and hell, but it could be presented in a simpler manner. Maybe that's just me, but when videogames start understanding that being so essential is not essential, that would be a good thing.

And our character is overly serious about it, completely disconnected with how easy the encounters are.

Every time our character speaks, it's as if they were doing something hard, something challanging.

Btw I wonder, why our character never complains with being called "wanderer"?

Overall, enjoying the game quite a bit. However, for my taste, leveling is way to slow. In D3 I could powerlevel (no exploits, stupid farms etc - just playing) to endgame at a solid "no wife at home" weekend.

This does not seem to be possible in D4 at all. It takes forever just for one character. Hence, I got bored a bit playing only one class and am now simultaneously leveling all classes - have almost all of them at level 50, doing the capstone dungeon for WT3.

The one thing that irritates me a bit: it is much more difficult/slower to play than D3. The automatic level adjustments of the enemies seems to be the root of the troubles: I am not aware of any game where you might get less powerful when you level up?? The reason is, that enemies get stronger with the levels - but your gear cannot keep up with this pace (at least when I play the game). Hence, gear gets low level, enemies grow in power, the skills you get do not really compensate beyond lvl 30 or so and the overall feeling is that my character gets less powerful with every level. Until you might get an important legendary, which seems to happen starting with level 35+ or 40+.

So, not a particular fan of this feeling atm. I hope they basically just multiply every XP by a factor of 5 (or more) to speed up the leveling process and revamp the gearing system such that you actually get item drops according to your level and not some levels lower (which makes it even harder to keep up the gear race).

I am also not sure which class I like the most atm. I think it might be even Barbarian, which is my least favorite in D3...but still undecided.

The Wanderer was Diablo himself in Diablo 2. You have an unknown background. In that sense, there are games like that. i.e. Skyrim. I loved to come up with crazy stories about my characters in Skyrim.

Act 3 is my favourite until now. Enjoying the story overall.

@Billy Idol afaik, the best way to level up your characters fast is to first complete the campaign with one of your characters, then once complete the campaign, you are free to roam with the others and level up very quick -I've seen some tips on it somewhere-.

in the previous generation I got both versions -XB and PC, PC from day one-. Maybe kb+m suits you better, but the game plays superb with a controller. The Rogue has been easier for me with a controller, but well, it was my first playthrough, if I play now I'd be using kb+m 'cos that's what I got used to with the fire sorc.

D3 was the oddest thing, 'cos the game was hacker proof on PC, but the Xbox version was hacker galore -dunno if they fixed that later on-, 'cos consoles are usually more secure in that regard.

Yes, that is true. I only finished the campaign with one character. For the others, you get the option to "skip campaign", wich means that it is straight forward to level up. But still, I am playing intensively the dungeons back and forth, get the strongholds, do Tree of Whisphers, etc - and it still takes super long for my taste. I, of course, did not use any exploit or so and let me boost via other players. Just plain single player leveling seems too long for my personal taste.
 
Also, I am surprised that they do not have and system where you can "store your build" like in D3, where you can switch builds back and forth with a very robust system.

It is also weird in D4, as respecing unfortunately costs ingame money - so switching builds is unfortunately not as straight forward as in D4.

I do hope that these things get iron out soon, and that some things get streamslined for convenience.

Also, the renown system is not really clicking with me. For me finding the Lilith statues is just busy work and I do not look forward to getting all the extra skill points in every season again.

I particular like that you can get many aspects from finishing dungeons - that is a super idea, and very satisfactory. However, it is kinda only half backed imo: as not all aspects can be collected this way. And some very important aspect, build defining aspects unfortunately, can only be obtained by lucky drops. I would love to get the chance to have each aspect (in its lowest tier form) from dungeons, events or strongholds. Then use the lucky drop to get better versions of said Legendary power - but at least, you can directly use the build/gameplay you want. This has huge potential imo and is a great idea from the devs that needs some fine tuning imo...
 
thats one of the reason i stopped doing side quests and side dungeons/cellars lol.

leveling up give no benefit for me as i doesnt care with the looks from higher-level gears.
You will want all those paragon points from Renown eventually unless your plan is to finish the campaign and quit.
 
Blizzard confirms the existence of ultra rare legendaries and explains how to obtain them.


This sounds similar to the famous Areas 85 in Diablo 2 when the excellent 1.10 patch was launched. In fact some have the name of some of the most popular items in Diablo 2, specially The Grandfather, Andariel Visage and Harlequin Crest. The Doombringer sounds familiar too.

maybe my Rogue should be more viable now. A lightning sorc too -it's hell of fun, I tried it after refunding points-. It seems now more builds will be viable in general, and source recovery has been improved, fortunately.
 
You will want all those paragon points from Renown eventually unless your plan is to finish the campaign and quit.

thorns - you return a certain amount of damage done to you.

Paragon points was added in Diablo 3. When you max out the essential skills of your character build, at level 50, you still level up "infinitely", getting Paragon points, which you can spend to improve your character.

Maybe someone can explain this better. I still don't know well the new Paragon mechanics
 
They probably can't. I imagine there's stuff doesn't have a client-side alternative. I'd guess all of the enemy spawning and ai is online only.
well, that's what they did to the console versions of Diablo 3, removing the mandatory online connection. The game worked great without it, and I guess they can change that in Diablo 4 as well. I want to play the game whenever I want. Diablo 2 Resurrected permits both online and offline characters, and they can't be intertwined
 
I have 3 Staff of Lam Esen, none have any damage reduction...<edit> I see, it's a buff to the charged bolt proc they reduced the amount the damaged reduced for each pass through.

Yea the patch notes were bad lol. I also have 3 staff of Lam esen, and so it took me a while to figure out what they were saying.

No real buffs for sorc. I can’t believe incinerate is possibly feasible out of lvl 20. Even with the buffs. Can’t crit on Channel spells and lucky hit is dismal, mana cost is massive. No real way to reduce it. Overall bad skill that I would love to use

incinerate is super cool to see and at low levels is okay, but then it isn't as useful and yeah, the mana cost is so crazy. I wanted to use it, and even found a legendary with an aspect that helps the skill a lot, but yeah, the skill is a mana hog. In the end, I have no core skills. If I had one it'd Incinerate.

Fireball might be ok 'cos of the direct damage bonus but it's not as good as Incinerate overall, imho.
