Dark Souls 3 [PS4,XO]

If you are good at dodging and reading enemy "tells" then you don't need a shield. Shields are used to either make defense easier (timing is less critical and stamina management more important) or to vastly increase your DPS by parrying (bucklers, fists, and some light weapons though there are exceptions). Although some shields in the game are quite nice to have equipped but never used as they provide passive bonuses like stamina regen, bonus amount of souls dropped, etc.

As mentioned in the post before mine, upgrading weapons is much more efficient for DPS than upgrading your level (A +5 weapon does vastly more damage than a +1, for example, and a +9 significantly more than a +5) . Stats are important but for reasons that are mostly indirectly related to damage (though if your weapon has A or S stat scaling, it can still be significant). Things like meeting weapon minimum requirements, having enough encumbrance to wear the vanity armor you want to wear, a level of stamina that you're comfortable with, etc.

ah ok good points, will revise my build.

Titanite scale is like impossible to find. I haven't been able to upgrade these boss weapons. I'm guessing standard weapons like longsword is easy to get to +5

I haven't held a single shield in this game till now. I use pyromancy in one hand and a sword in the other. Bloodborne changed my mindset and also I cannot not use magic if a game has it :p

Titanite Scales are indeed pretty rare, but there are still more than enough to get at least one weapon maxed out.
I'm nearing the end of illyrhyl dungeon? How far am I? ;)
Still using my wolfsbane great sword, doing alright with no shield and dodging.

You are pretty far. I'd say once you reach Irithyll (not talking about the dungeon), you're just about at the halfway mark. There's still a good chunk of game left, and that includes major hidden areas.

starting to enjoy the game more now that I care less about dying. Still burned on losing my souls so many times though, i'm the type of RPG player that doesn't burn consumables, and I can see this wall of difficulty you hit by not using them.

So I started using them, made life easier. Started with Embers, but quickly going to run out of them.

When you start running low on embers, start to only use embers for bosses. And only after you've gotten a bit of a grasp on how the mechanics of the boss work. When learning there isn't really a need to waste embers.

That's what I did. Only other case where I'd use embers is if I wanted to summon someone to help with something. While each additional summons increases the health of enemies, it can make things significantly easier.

I had like a hundred embers in my inventory when I finished the game. I didn't really do much in the way of multiplayer, though. I used my embers mostly on bosses as well as to trigger certain events which require you to be alive.

signs of a dark souls veteran ;) this is my first dark souls ever, I've been moving somewhat gingerly ;)
i'm 24 hours into the game, I'm sure I'm among the slowest of players out there.

nooooo
Anri is dead

How the 'F' do you beat the section where there are knights just hosing you down with great bow arrows? Irithyll Map 4 before Ando Gates? The only way I managed was a young branch, sneak to the top and attempt to kill them top to bottom. But even then, still pretty dangerous fighting the guys closer to the edge, you can and I have fallen off.

When in doubt, just hoof it :) The Silver Knights are quite tough and not anywhere near as easy to parry as they used to be in DS1. For head-on confrontations, I recommend a big-ass weapon that can knock them off their feet. If there's more than one of them at least. I use some giant boss sword with a two-handed fire attack. I cannot remember the name, though.

Dark Souls 3 has being patched on Pro with an unlocked framerate option.

Mostly 45-55fps during gameplay. Averages at 49.9fps for the whole video which is around 66% more frames.

EDIT: apparently that's not an option, it's the default mode on Pro.
