Capcom's Deep Down

I paused the very few real time scenes of the new trailer, and they didnt look as impressive as the original trailer. I hope what I saw is not representative

yup. plus it's an "online game" whatever that means.

Way to kill hype on both accounts.

The game looks great ... the best i've seen, one of the only truely next gen looking games.

To be the fair the stills of the trailer don't look great but I don't think they will represent the final game, we should probably wait for a real trailer at gamescon(i think its called).

Yes, I have done the same...
Very very disappointing, a last gen bland looking game.
Also the art direction seems terrible to me...

Why choose to show that terrible immages/short clips after all the hype that the game/tech demo has earned?

How can you be concerned when you didn't see actual gamepaly footage nor played it?!

As I said this is not a final judgement., We saw something, we have our concerns and we still give it the benefit of the doubt

New footage though not the best video quality doesn't look on par with the PS meeting trailer, the online nature of it really killed off 99% of my hype:(.

Dragon's Dogma is an online game but still very much a SP game. Even though we seen very little of Deep Down, what we have seen doesn't seem suitable for something like an MMO. The environments seem too small for that. Online co-op is more likely I think. And if that's the case it may also work as a SP game.

I'm not worried at this point.

Well IF it's a MMO they they could set it in a massive underground dungeon instead of massive a open world.
The game could take place entirely deep down the earth as the name suggests after all.

Well if it has a meaty SP and doesn't require always on then I'm still in, otherwise I stay the hell out of MMO.
Really need to see more of this game, the new teaser does not look too promising.

Possibly. But for some more theorizing. A game where twenty dudes stand around a monster, hacking away at it's ankles, slowly decreasing is massive health bar isn't where Capcom's strengts lie. Even Dragon's Dogma's combat borrows heavily form Monster Hunter and DMC. In fact one of the most common reactions to Dragon's Dogma was why doesn't it have online co-op.

Or why make fluid based fire when MMO usually have far more abstract combat systems?

I wonder the game uses first person perspective now or it's just for trailer purposes.
Capcom's version of King's Field?

new trailer
yup ! deep down is for ps4 !

It's being developed by Capcom Online Games.

Interesting, appears it might be an online only game. MMO? MMO-lite? Online only single player with drop in Co-op?

A few more details (http://www.neoseeker.com/news/23531...-game-debuts-at-tokyo-game-show-in-september/ ). Just confirming that it's been announced as an online game. But not many details though.

It will be nice if this requires an online connection to play. As more and more games start to follow that model, we might actually have a chance for cloud compute in games to take off despite neither hardware manufacturer making it mandatory.

Regards,
SB

Well I am not saying that Deep Down it's a MMO, I just think that a "dungeon" MMO can be done.
Considered the PS4 reveal footage I would say that Deep Down it's a more intimate online RPG with few players per party.

It's hard to tell anyway, we saw so little after all...it's fun to speculate though ;)
What can I say is that I am not put off by the fact that it's online, actually all the opposite.

Capcom's version of King's Field?

Ono is working on it so my bet is third person combat.
With this I am not saying that it would not work in FP.
