Beyond: Two Souls will feature a companion application available on both iPhone and Android. The application itself will consist simply of a blank white screen and will allow the user to control the characters via touch inputs.
For example, one player may be controlling Jodie using the DualShock 3 and may switch to Aiden. Aiden will be controlled by a second player on their iPhone using the application Beyond: Touch.
The iPhone application can control either Jodie or Aiden and players can switch control from the player on the iPhone to the player on the DualShock simply by touching the top left of the application. The feedback seems to be instant, with PlayStationer witnessing no input-lag when controlling Aiden or Jodie.
When controlling Jodie using the companion app, players can touch various areas of the screen and Jodie will move in that direction.
More info to follow as we have it.
I don't see how the portrayal of a character undergoing military training and/or undertaking missions in a warzone automatically means Call of Duty. Have you seen the latest CoD trailer? It has Astronauts shooting each other while taking cover behind the solar panels of a space station that's about to fall out of the sky. There's also an awesome dog vs. helicopter scene. The whole thing is pure comedy gold. Only a Monthy Python-esque paper cut-out foot, descending from the heavens and subsequently squishing everyone in the scene with a fart noise could've improved that trailer.
Don't get me wrong. Beyond could end up just as bafflingly stupid as you predict, but the individual scenes they've shown so far were so disjointed and free of context that I'm not willing to pass judgement just yet.
