After Burner!!! OMG!! YEAH :devilish:

I'm surprised at how many Japanese games the 360 will be getting. The 360 is shaping up to be much more exciting to me than the Xbox was in its first year or so.

I love how they consider Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball 2 an RPG.

Since when was Spore actually confirmed?

Also, Shark Sandwich... I have to disagree with you on the Japanese games -- I see none. I see a couple attempts, but nothing more. Blue Dragon? Ninja Gaiden? Ninety-Nine Nights? I'm not sure about Blue Dragon or 99N, but Ninja Gaiden is very much westernized.

I imagine the support will be better over time, as I don't think their main concern for the launch window was Japanese-esque titles.

I was referring to Japanese-developed titles, not "Japanese-esque" whatever that means.

FYI, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are the two games in development by Mistwalker, Hironobu Sakaguchi's (Final Fantasy creator) new company. They both will have music from Nobuo Uematsu (FF music creator), and the character designs for Blue Dragon are done by Akira Toriyama (Dragonball Z, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest).

99 Nights is a Japanese game that looks a lot like Dynasty Warriors. It supposedly has more strategy to it (a developer described it as 80 percent action and 20 percent strategy) and involves many different creature types.

Those three are the games I'm most looking forward to. A pretty good portion of the games on that list are being developed by Japanese developers, though.

Haha that was funny.

And I don't get your NG comment. I thought NG was very much a non-westernised game (ie, really hard, old school few healths, easy deaths, reminded me of NES days actually). I'm interested why you feel the opposite.

Ah, okay.

On a side note, I'm also looking forward to Blue Dragon and (now) Lost Odyssey. Here's to hoping they don't suck!

Call it a feeling, I suppose. Difficulty aside, it is clear it was made for the US. There aren't as many quirky things about it. There was no senseless 'drama' added to the story (at least that I remember) and Ryu was more of a typical american badass this time around than the quiet ninja from the original games.

Now, I'm not saying in the least this makes it bad or anything (infact, quite the opposite). There is just a distinction of certain things based on the audience.

Japanese games tend to have quirks and odd stories. The characters end up being quiet and/or deep instead of the 'beat the hell out of everyone who looks at me funny' style characters we often see in games from the US (especially lately -- Kratos is a perfect example of a westernized character).

I agree. I saw his character design and immediately thought "WTF? he looks like he should be the singer for a nu-metal band!"

Ah cmon Kratos is cool. Looks like a MAN instead of a japanese guy with a weird haircut wanting to look like a Hollywood superstar or something....

Kratos is one of my favorite characters around, personally. But it doesn't mean he isn't rather typical of male characters in american games/movies (a rather extreme example, though). ;)

Well Dante is certainly Japanese style, but he seems to meld those statements. Odd stories, but he's certainly a "beat the hell out of everything"-style hero. ;)

Actually it's developed by a Korean developer (Phantagram) with the helm of a Japanese producer (Tetsuya Mizuguchi), so it's more of a Korean game.

I'm not sure NG is westernized or not, but comparing its sales in Japan with that in the U.S., I guess it caters to the western taste more, even with the discrepancy in the XBOX install bases in JP/US markets.

There are plenty of cross-overs that work well. I think that was part of why Dante worked well as a character -- he was a badass, but wasn't necessarily gung-ho (he was rather quiet and mysterious).

However, if you look at the types (on average) of game heroes on 'american' (and european) made games versus those from asian made games, there is a pretty distinct discrepancy. Not only game heroes but content/story/environment are often different too...

Frankly, I'm glad there is a difference, it makes for better overall experience -- I'm all for variety. Sometimes I feel like beating bad guys up with blades connected to chains, other times I feel like pushing around a sticky ball until I have a planet sized collection and other times I feel like controlling an annoyingly angsty teenage character through a troubled world, etc etc. Variety is key.

OMFG!!!

That game list is SICK!!!

NG2, KI3, VF5, FM2, SC4, PGR3, SR, GOW, GR3 and on on? Is there such a thing as too many great games? I think I'm gonna faint.

Hehe nice to see Dark Sector made the list too. 8) ;)

Ninja Gaiden 2 has NOT been confirmed as a Xbox360 game. VF neither, heck, it hasn´t even been announced for consoles yet.

Funny to see PCEngine orgasming, though.

Well, if OXm says, maybe its because the Publisher's told them? No?
