As hkultala said, Fuad's confusing the increased storage capacity/density (Mbits) of the Samsung RAM with the still-stable external and internal interfaces (bits) between RAM and GPU. Follow the link to the RAM and you'll see it's 512Mbit (= 128MB) per chip but still with a 32-bit interface. You'll note that current cards with 256-bit buses have eight 32-bit RAM chips; 128-bit buses use just four 32-bit RAM chips. These new Samsung chips will allow for 8 x 128MB = 1GB RAM per GPU for 256-bit-bus cards. I'm sure someone will have a use for it--even games, as I think one of the Unreal ppl said you'd need 1GB on the video card for full effects--but it's still a bit overkill for current GPUs and games.rwolf said:So where is the market for 512Mbit GDDR3?
Interesting that someone still can win even when he's more than a year behind.CJ said:The German ATi Office sure has a sense of humor. Okay, I can appreciate your feelings over this but if you spent hours typing 4 posts, then you're either very slow or very, very about choosing your exact words! If we do have a backup, then I don't have access to it - only Dave (and probably Marco) will have, and if it has been saved, then we'll get all of the relevant comments into the link I mentioned earlier as soon as possible.ssassen said:Nick, tell me you got a backup, people spent hours (I sure did) typing those posts up.
