Anand has the details about r520,rv530,rv515

If this forum is set up reasonably, then the "deleted" posts should be sitting in an Administrative Moderation Queue. That is to say, "soft-delete" is the actual implementation of the 'moderators delete posts'. This is an option in the Admin Control Panel on a usergroup section OR moderator-to-forum mapping settings. The options are "soft delete" and "physical delete".

I have an awful feeling that since they recently went thru a major, planned delete of old posts, that there is a real chance the setting you are pointing at was set to "physical" at that time, and may not have been changed back. . .

He tried a split, not a delete. I suspect that if someone did a search then the missing split thread might magically show up somwehere.

Back to our regularly scheduled topic. . .

Why haven't we seen any pics or benchies on X1300 or X1600 yet? I know they aren't as sexy, but supposedly they are out there in great volume about to descend on e/retailers everywhere soon. Shouldn't we be seeing more evidence of that?

*Five minutes later the Inq claims they have first X1300 and X1600 shots*

I'm still confused over X1300's release date. Werent we expecting a late 05, early 06 release for the X1300 ? (According to the Kristopher from Anandtech)

I'd love to see X1300 benches btw.

I was reviewing the avalanche of umm, stuff, from yesterday, and noticed something I didn't focus on in the moment --the strongest, if anonymous, public statement from ATI yet re R520 performance. Certainly Orton has talked about "performance leadership", but even that was a few months ago, and before the leakage/"soft ground" issues were disclosed in public. Yesterday, what we got from an anonymous "ATI rep" on the front page of R3D is

The real performance of R520 clearly dominates the fastest competitive hardware

Now, certainly, sometimes in the heat of a nasty battle folks say some things they'd later like to have back. But personally, I've got a new reference point to hold ATI to re R520XT performance.

sorry to come into topic this late.... but is there any kind of summery?
i wasnt around and i really dont wanna read it all.....

anything about next gen ATi cards will help..... thnx guys

silence, I posted the summary that serenity linked at your request (which is two posts above mine in that thread)! :p

Just a little blurb that I haven't seen posted in here yet... On a Dutch forum someone who is in contact with both ATi and nV (and has proven to be very credible in the past) posted an interesting tidbit... It seems that nV told him recently that they are mostly scared of RV515. They expect it to do some major damage in the low-end/midrange section.

Its been said to me that in some instances (probably 3DMark) the top end RV515 is performing around the 9800 XT level - it might be interesting to pit these parts against each other when we get the actual hardware if this is actually the case. Still, I suspect that NVIDIA will be in the same ballpark with their 90nm lowend.

Wow, that's a HUGE leap in low end performance then. Hmm, that's pretty damn amazing to think about, that could really get the game makers out there adding some features if such powerful low end products come out.

Depends on the price of this part. The 6600 GT, which is now priced at about $130, destroys a 9800 XT. If it costs about $100, it won't be such a huge leap.

Edit:
Just looked back at Anandtech's article on the RV515. States that it will be a 4-pipe design with 128-bit memory at about 500/500MHz. I somewhat doubt it will hold a candle against the 6600 GT, and it seems like it would have to be some very special cases to have a chance against the 9800 XT.

What experience do you have with both the 9800XT and the 6600GT? Personal experience with both would lead me to say that the 6600GT only marginally beats the 9800XT.

Also, as far as price, I mean retail prices, ranging from $100 and lower depending on the model you get, you can generally get a 6200 or X300 for very cheap these days.
