Path tracing is very divergent task so the most (>70%?) of compute units are just waiting for thread arrives. That's why non-usual, high clock speeds are possible in the 7900 series. And with that clock speed, the performance barely competes with RTX 3080/Ti.That's HIP and somewhat heavy workload so yea lol.
I am surprised AMD itself doesn't try to counter such obvious bad informations as they create massive PR problems.
The argument would be that those very small amount of people are the ones other people confer with when making purchasing decisions. There is some truth to that, but in my experience even when people ask me what to buy, no matter what I recommend, they get something from NVIDIA. The other day I was explaining to a guy how much better the 6700XT is than the 3060, and the guy clearly understood and agreed. Then he went out and bought a 3060.Do they? To who? The very very small amount of people who read and care about it?

I did a fair bit of research and yea they're pretty close with RT. Though neither is great with RT, and I suspect most would turn on RT to see what it looks like and turn it back off for the extra frames. When you combine RT with DLSS the 3060 starts to make more sense. Otherwise the 6700XT pretty much clobbers the 3060, and they are the same price in the US right now. You need a 3060Ti to match the 6700XT, and that is significantly more expensive with significantly less memory. Seems like an obvious choice to me.To be fair the 3060 is probably just as fast or faster with RT enabled.

The cheapest two new 6700XTs sold by newegg are $360. The cheapest two 3060s are $354 and $360. The cheapest two 3060Tis are $410 (with extra $19 off promo code so $391) and $450. Not sure why that one 3060Ti (ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Twin Edge OC LHR) is so cheap. All the other 3060Tis are $450+.Really? Man prices really are all over the place globally.
In the UK the 3060 is £100 cheaper than the 6700 and the 3060ti is the same price as the 6700.

Twitter and Reddit can reach a lot of PC gamers.Do they? To who? The very very small amount of people who read and care about it?
Which still amounts to an insanely small percentage of the overall user base.Twitter and Reddit can reach a lot of PC gamers.

Overall PC gamers yeah. Gamers who build their own PCs and will spend $1k+ on a GPU? Those stuff gets to a decent portion of those users.Which still amounts to an insanely small percentage of the overall user base.
At those price the 3060 makes a lot of sense. Also are you sure that's a real 6700XT? Apparently there is a 6700 with 160bit 10GB. The cheapest of those here are $320 and $330 (with $15 promo code so $315). There are practically no reviews of the 10GB 6700 but I assume it is a fair bit slower than the 6700XT while still being significantly better than the 3060 outside of RT.Cheapest I can find in the UK.
3060 - £329
6700 - £430
3060ti - £430

Looks like the rumor guys weren't that off the mark, but they didn't account for RDNA3 having bugs/variance?
