Evidence of Nvidia performance obfuscation through naming convention confirmed.

No, you don't have an 8800GT. You'd never buy an NV card, we all know that.

You're talking about FUD? You need meds my friend, strong meds! ;)

I see where you're going with that, but I wanted to point out something different - many people expected RV770 to be faster than G92 by a reasonable margin. How much faster can the 4870 be?

Well rumors put it 30% ahead of 4850 so pretty much that much faster than G92

If ATI's lowered the hit they take from AA+AF, could (some of) this just be their lower memory usage with AA? In that same vein, I wonder how accurate Extreme Vantage marks are as a measure of scaling limitations with the 9800GX2. (Vantage's whitepaper says Performance is "targeted" at 256MB and High and Extreme "require 512MB." It doesn't seem unreasonable to think the res, AA, and source material bumps might add up to more than twice the memory use.)

Exactly. Normally between 8800 GTS and 9800 GTX there is a 5% difference, except on some particular settings where it's completely dependent by the bandwidth and that's around 10%. So a 30% more than 4850 will put the 4870 between 20-25% more than 9800 GTX.

First of all you can increase the quality with &fmt=18 in the address of the youtube vid.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz5c6f4MPi4&fmt=18

Though it doesnt make much difference in this case.

Second.... Your a bit late to the party ! its been posted for stream and download for a while now. In various places, including this very thread. Although I really am looking forward to seeing the City demo in high res direct feed.!! It looks awesome.

    I thought R700 will have shared 512bit memory interface, instead 2x256bit ??

Given how little we know of how exactly R700 will work, all these numbers are speculation

No that chart is incorrect. I don't know where they pulled those numbers from.

Here is another review that shows 8800 Ultra SLI scoring X4800. This is in line with digit-life's X4500 number for the GX2.

Somebody took the CJ's GTX numbers and added their own for the other cards on those results

    ATI Radeon HD 4870
    Process: 55nm
    Core Clock: 850MHz

    Memory Clock: 1935MHz (123.8 gb/s) memory bandwidth

    Memory interface: 256-bit
    Memory capacity: 512MB / 1024MB
    Stream Processor Units: 480
    Raster Operation Units (ROPs): 16
    Texture Mapping Units (TMUs): 32
Standard Shader Model: 4.0 (SM 4.1 Extended)
    Standard DirectX Version: DirectX 10.1
Video playback technology: Avivo HD (UVD2)

    EDIT: I would assume you can over-clock memory to 2000MHz GDDR5 (128 gb/s) memory bandwidth. IF R700 uses 512bit GDDR5 @ 2000MHz it be (256 gb/s) memory bandwidth "OVERKILL"
