FUD.
I have an 8800 GT in my E8400-powered system and even with everything stock it scores just under 12k so I instantly distrust their numbers when they claim it only pulls 10.8k.
I see where you're going with that, but I wanted to point out something different - many people expected RV770 to be faster than G92 by a reasonable margin. How much faster can the 4870 be?The difference between 9800 GTX and 8800 GTS 512 being? ..

If ATI's lowered the hit they take from AA+AF, could (some of) this just be their lower memory usage with AA? In that same vein, I wonder how accurate Extreme Vantage marks are as a measure of scaling limitations with the 9800GX2. (Vantage's whitepaper says Performance is "targeted" at 256MB and High and Extreme "require 512MB." It doesn't seem unreasonable to think the res, AA, and source material bumps might add up to more than twice the memory use.)So it seems the 4850 could either take less of a performance hit with AA enabled or simply handle the higher shader settings better than the 9800GTX.

Well rumors put it 30% ahead of 4850 so pretty much that much faster than G92
Forgive the terrible quality... Damned Youtube...

First of all you can increase the quality with &fmt=18 in the address of the youtube vid.

Though it doesnt make much difference in this case.
Second.... Your a bit late to the party ! its been posted for stream and download for a while now. In various places, including this very thread. Although I really am looking forward to seeing the City demo in high res direct feed.!! It looks awesome.
While we are away for Computex, CJ let us know that the Radeon HD 4870 X2 R700 prototype card is out and it beats the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 in 3DMark Vantage. The R700 card is basically made up of two RV770 GPUs with 2x256-bit memory interface to either GDDR3 or GDDR5 memories. We asked our sources about R700 in Computex and apparently AMD is going to let AIB partners to decide the specs themselves. Therefore, the partners will set their own clock speeds, PCB design, memory types, cooler solutions etc. and there will be Radeon HD 4850 X2 and 4870 X2 cards differentiate by the memory type. The R700 card apparently doing pretty well at this stage scoring about X5500 in 3DMark Vantage Extreme preset while the GeForce GTX 280 card is scoring X4800. Both sides are still working hard on optimizing their drivers for the new architecture so probably we will see the performance to improve over time.

Too little too late for ATi... nVidia have a secret weapon of mass destruction -> GeForce GTX 299

R700 will be a multiple GPU architecture. Will not be CrossFire on a card. The architecture is being designed from the ground up to be "multiple GPU." Engineers at ATI have also told me specifically that AA is "fixed." http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1031906993&postcount=28
A GX2 scores ~X4500.
so this table here is not correct regarding GX2? According to CJ it is not correct regarding RV770 anyway and the GTX280 results improved to X48xx
Somebody took the CJ's GTX numbers and added their own for the other cards on those resultsso this table here is not correct regarding GX2? According to CJ it is not correct regarding RV770 anyway and the GTX280 results improved to X48xx
