Agni's Philosophy Technical Article

That demo is hardly photrealistic. The hair shading is terrible too. Check out some good CGI on cgtalk and you'll realize how many more generations games are still behind.

The old man and that old summoner both looked very photorealistic to me, I can say Agni herself doesn't look that photorealistic though. However my point here being the engine certainly allows for that kind of photorealism quality to be delivered in realtime regardless of the art style.

Wow all that lighting is delicious, I expect this game to run choppy frames mostly 20-25FPS just like what Current Gen consoles are doing with graphics like Far Cry 3, BF3 and Crysis 3.
I also expect a lot of aliasing just like with current gen, Nonetheless, These graphics will be able to hop on next gen consoles.

I would think a lot of the game engines that are top of the crop today could. Doesn't mean that the hardware can handle it in a game. CryEngine 3, UE4, Glacier 2, etc.. all have advanced features and clearly can support high res textures (which is what you are seeing in that Agni demo) with high tessellation.

So was MGS4 tech demo. And we all know how that turned out...

Yeah, overal texture res, geometry detail, lighting fidelity, and whatnot all got simplified a little in the final game, while preserving the original look and feel for the most part. So if actual games end up looking as similar to Agnes as the final MGS4 did in comparison to its tech demo, that means they won't look all that bad in the end.

Next gen should be able to get pretty close, without the PC overhead and with the better CPU/APU/GPU integration.

So, Square was present on the unveiling of PlayStation 4 console where they showcased Agni's Philosphy demo which was running on PS4 hardware.

Can anyone spot some differences between this demo and the old one that was running on GTX680? Are the assets the same? Game effects?

Not with that quality stream..

Saw ~720p? stream earlier and there were some quite visible aliasing on background, so most likely they did use 2x or 4xMSAA instead of 8x.
I'm sure the demo was pretty much same otherwise.

They got the video at gametrailers. For some reason I feel that something is missing in the PS4 version but that could be just me
