[360, PS3] Borderlands

Stand in the door way while you fight him. Open the door, take a few shots, let him fire his rockets, open door, shoot again. He iwill basically stand infront of the door and get his ass kicked.

I'm at the point where I have to go in and fight Sledge, and I'm worried. My turret and bullet damage are maxed out, but once the turret craps out, I think I'm going to have a hard time with him. I seem to remember he has a shield, and I don't really have any weapons for that.

The door trick that RobertR1 mentions only works after you die at least once, but it works. :)

Alternatively, Sledge is slow. Like REALLY slow. What I do is make sure I have either a high damage per shot weapon with decent accuracy or extremely fast fire rate weapon. Sprint around avoiding sledge and killing off all most of the first wave of adds. Then pretty much ignore the one or two remaining ones and pick a corner that you can hide behind and dodge out from to nail him.

Or if you are good at timing things. Stay close enough that he prefers to use his sledge. But far enough you can quickly backpedal away to reduce damage from it. Blasting him the whole time. You can basically keep him from using the shotgun and take minimal damage from the sledge. And waste him fairly quickly. If you get the timing right you can dash in trigger sledge attack, back out. Rinse and repeat.

Bah, I'd say go back and find a shock weapon. I got lucky the first play through and there was a shock weapon right on that level. I believe there's like 3 or 4 weapons crates on that level before you get to Sledge, I'd mine them for a shock weapon otherwise his shield is going to be really difficult to take down.

I actually just played through that level on my 2nd play through last night. Threw one shock grenade at him, toasted his shield and then just blew him and his midgets away with my hellfire... easy peasy.

A little light on the details, but....

Honestly, I think that's how games really should be run. Release the game, release some DLC (obviously earlier than RS did with GTAIV), and then release some updates to keep players interested in the game until the sequel comes out.

I think Crackdown, for example, should have used this model to continue the momentum that the first one had into the second.

I did the zombie island before I did the Sledge mission and picked up a few elemental upgrades for the turret and also an orange level rifle which kicks ass. I also got a couple of static weapons which helped quite a bit. To beat sledge I hit him with the static weapons to destroy his shield, just before dropping the turret, and then just fired everything!

I have to admit that I am enjoying this game far more than Oblivion which was previously my favorite mission and level game. Even though the world is a lot emptier of NPC's the way you level up and the way in which enemies level up actually makes you feel like you are achieving something unlike Oblivion.

Though a version of Oblivion with co-op or party play would be an ex D&D'rs wet dream!!

Yeah, I was able beat Sledge using a combination of Robert's and Bhudda's tactics.

It's hard to switch between this game and Mass Effect though. Make me want to scream.

I'm a noob then! Actually, I learned on my 2nd playthrough that the vehicle's rocket launcher can lock on.

The only bad thing about this game is that it's over by the time you finally get some uber weapons. I got hold of a sniper for my Berzerker that does something like 800+ damage. The accuracy is crap at ~95, but f&*k this thing absolutely slams enemies.

The soldier class gets a lot better class mods than the berzerker.

The vehicles rocket launcher can lock on? WTF?

Struggling not to laugh. ;)

Vehicle + machine gun + lock on = best anti-vehicle combo.

I guess it's easier for me to know these things with a PC version since the first thing I do in all PC games is go in and custom configure keyboard bindings to match RDFG instead of WASD. So I get to see most of the possible actions in a game.

Seriously, I have no idea how to lock on with vehicle weapons. Is there a button for that on PC? Can't think of what button it would be on console. The vehicle weapons are useless.

When in the vehicle, hit the "A" button (X360 version). Enemies are highlighted with a red diamond. Fire away. If you tap the "A" button, it cycles through enemies. Pretty useful, actually.

Yeah without lock-on the machine gun is virtually worthless. But the Rocket Launcher shines with free aim as long as you are good at leading enemies.

With lock-on however, the machine gun shines. Lock on with rocket launcher isn't as useful as it doesn't lead the target.

Awesome now we got a name and from the looks of it.. GIANT EVIL ROBOT ARMIES!!

That's just awesome.

I love this game, gotta play some more tonight. My volcano and hellfire are starting to give out on me on my second playthrough, need to get some better weapons or reshuffle my skills or something!

Still only level 47 I think too!
