[360, PS3] Borderlands

Anybody playing Knoxx yet? I just dl'd it last night after finally getting up to level 50 with my Hunter, and I'm trying to take off work early to start the weekend to try it out! :)

Also, I didn't see any talk of the patch on here. I guess it came out Monday, preceding the patch and it removed all the modded weapons and did some other nerfs and buffs as well. One of the biggest shocks to most people was that their 1000+ damage volcano snipers all disappeared as well.

Apparently, people thought those weapons were legit, but they weren't. So even people who were trying hard not to use modded weapons found out some of their favorites weren't real!

Played it a bunch last night. Can be challenging but feels like a really good Borderlands level and not like afterthought DLC. Very happy with it so far. The Red Lance ninjas are rad.

Only lameness I have encountered so far (and this happened with the zombie DLC too) is that the initial video intro stalls and stutters horribly. Once you get into the game everything is normal but that initial introduction makes it seem like the game is going to lock up or something. Not sure what is going there. . .caching while it plays the intro and running out of disk bandwidth maybe?

Cheers

I took my lvl 28 soldier to T-Bone junction, and got totally bitchslapped by those lvl 35 red, katana-wielding bitches. The mission difficulty said "Impossible", but I went in there anyway. LOL!

I'm going back in with my lvl 50 berserker to do some regulatin'.

T-Bone junction on the 2nd playthrough with a level 50 was TOUGH. Playing with my hunter and a pal's Roland, we got slaughtered repeatedly.

I don't think either of us died that many times the entire game (and ZI) put together as we did the first few missions in Knoxx. That highway really is the highway of death until you can put some more levels on.

Which is the good thing, EXP abounds. It seemed to take no time at all to get to level 57 while it took forever to go from 45-50 playing the main game.

Survived two crazy ninja lady attacks now and am on my way to kill Ajax. I've only just got to level 43 though and it's pretty tough!! lol! I'm not sure about the constant driving as that's getting a bit tedious I just tend to drive the racer flat out to get from one end to another.

You're missing major EXP then, the Monster (?), the big truck has homing missles.

Makes taking out the flying R2 units a lot easier, just drive around in circles a bit shooting off the rockets.

Missile lock-on is your friend for those floating robots. Can't believe I got to level 50 without discovering that feature!

I find the driving is less annoying once the roadblocks get removed. Still it would have been nice if Gearbox had added a quick travel point or two.

Cheers

I told porkies! I've only just reached level 42... that made killing Ajax interesting lastnight!! I think I struck lucky when I found a Furious something or other orange level combat rifle on the Zombie Island. It regenerates ammo and has a huge clip size, backed by a massive fire rate. You basically aim and hold down fire and its practically an endless stream of bullets. Kills thing dead very rapidly, lol!

Killed all the ninja ladies now.
They burn really easily.

Ha ha ha ... Botherlands, you f** piece of sh***

You really make me dramatic: I like you so much, because you are nearly the perfect game for me...but your tech (PS3) is just down right ridiculous.

Explanation: I bought the new DLC...Secret amory of general knoxxx.
It is great as always...fun, cool...after a few minutes I am totally back in the game.
Then I got to the prison. Fighting in the prison seems to be standard afair...but something is different this time: framerate is ultra low. The weird thing: I don't mind low FPS at all (it did not borther me in Mass Effect 1 Xbox360 for instance). But this time it really makes the game unlplayable. If there are some foes in place and I shoot my cool Vulcano sniper...boom, no controll anymore, massive stuttering, and my usual play style like being in the middle of the storm and take them out, does not work anymore: I got killed two times in a row, by some standard prison foes - not nice if you ask me, a reason for me to take a break from this game...and try it maybe again after GOW3.

Overall Verdict: Buuuuu!

PS: I hope they improve the port in Bortherlands 2!!

Trust me, Borderlands on 360 has frame rate issues. Final level in the main game where it's snowing absolutely killed the frame rate. I think Borderlands needs some performance improvement on 360 and PS3. Borderlands 2 should be a wicked game, whenever it comes out.

The only part irks me with this DLC is the constant driving to and from the different areas, also that when you exit the game it doesn't save your current location but places you right back at the start. Gets a bit annoying and slightly tedious after a while.

True and true to both of the recent statements, Borderlands has frame rate issues on the 360 as well even with only two players. I don't think I've experienced it playing by myself, but definitely happens when I'm even playing with just one other person.

I really don't know the reason behind the lack of fast travel within the DLC. It must have something to do with how the program is written, I'd think. In ZI, you always had to start back at the beginning and there was no fast travel either. It just wasn't as annoying (or obvious), I think because you still just run around.

It's very obvious when you have to start at the beginning of a long freeway and make your way all the way back down again. That being said, I think it benefits the game if you haven't played it in a week or so, it gives you the time to get back 'into' the game. Same with running back through ZI to get to where your next mission starts. It provides atmosphere.

However, if you're picking the game back up again after a couple hours break or so, yes.. it gets really annoying fast.

Sad to here this...I hoped it was the PS3s fault and not the devs fault!!
As you said, I hope they improve the tech in Bortherlands 2...I can't wait:D:cry:

WOOT! It's almost here!

Claptrap Revolution Borderland's next and most likely final, DLC!

We get to fight the ninja assassin claptrap! How friggin cool is that?

I hope you guys didn't trade in your copies. This comes out 9/28.

A year ago Borderlands was an untested brand that through hard work and a lot of passion, turned out to be one of the best-selling, claptastic and skagtacular games we have ever created," said 2K Games president Christoph Hartmann. "A year later, we are releasing our fourth DLC installment, Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, which illustrates our enthusiasm for creating highly entertaining content that enhances a franchise. In addition to serving as the perfect bookend to the original game, what gamer doesn't love a kung-fu-wielding Ninja Assassin Claptrap with nunchuck skills?"

The DLC will be available in September on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points. It will add more than 20 new missions, 10 new skill points, and three additional backpack slots for players to take advantage of with their characters.

Woo Hoo! I can't wait to get back to Pandora! It's probably been about 6 months since I picked up this game.

Now that is sweet news!! Claptrap Ninja!? I thought it looked a bit dodgy at the end of the secret armoury, you see a claptrap acting all weird and jumping around and stuff... :runaway:
