[360, PS3] BF:BC2 and BF 1943 online

No this and BFBC2 are based on the Frostbite 1 engine (with some additions)

For sure smoke is one of those additions. Awesome smoke!.

I think the engine is wonderful. Very smooth and with great view distances and very little popping. I recently restarted playing Oblivion with has a similar setup ( grass, trees, sun in the horizon... ) and what a engine difference...

Two things i would like to improve: the particle effects in explosions are like too big pixels or something like that ( has it to be with they being of a smaller resolution than the rest of the game ? ) and the dead animations: just when you kill someone looks like the dying animation is replaced by the bag falling and it happens too abruptly, i think it would be better to have a proper dying only animation and leave the bag appears only when walking over the bodies. This to increase even more the shooting mechanics satisfaction. Ideas for BF BC 2!.

Thanks for the feedback!

The "big pixel" particles is because they are rendered in half-resolution to save performance which is important in a such a chaotic environment, but we would definitely like to continue to look into reducing aliasing on this and in general.

Regarding the animations, yes they have some lacking transitions in some cases (remember, $15) but we have some plans there and I believe BFBC2 drops the actual weapons instead of a bag.

Great!. Looking forward to BFBC2!.

Tried it out ! Going back to BF:Bad Company ! Theser's nothing wrong with this game either, Its just that it is BF:BC only ! New setting, same game ;) !

Glad people like it! For those with problems, we are adding servers like crazy :) Way more downloads then what we expected / planned for.

There is also a very lively official forum here with discussions with the rest of the devs and the community about everything related to it.

I would love to give some feedback but the connection issues are still staggeringly horrific. I have had issues every day and it is even worse when trying to play with friends. I had an hour to play this morning and instead I have gotten to twiddle my thumbs. EA needs to get this fixed, and if they have demo servers up they need to pull them for the paying customers until this is all sorted out.

That said I really liked 1942 and while I don't like the direction this went in every way (more on that later) it seems like a fun game!

EDIT: Got in and a server crashed and froze my Xbox :(

repi,

The BF games themselves are always good but EA/Dice has an amazing history of dropping the ball on execution. This isn't any different. Anyone who has played the BF games enough knows not to have any hopes for a smooth first day/week/month and to wait for many patches over time. I'm enjoying the hell out of BF1943 when it does work fine but in between getting split up from party members, lockups, random spurts of lag, it's like being in any other battlefield game when it comes to the pain of having to deal with it. Come on guys, you been at it long enough to get your act together.

I've been dropped from game twice and had two lockups during play.

There are some slopes that aren't very steep that seem to be very difficult to drive up, even with a tank. I found that kind of frustrating if you were trying to drive to a flag up on a hill by following a road.

I don't think I really have many other issues with the game. I'm pretty terrible at the infantry game, but I drive a mean tank. I'm also gettin' better at flying the planes.

Edit:
I wonder why we haven't seen a revamped Unreal Tournament or Quake 3 Arena? You already have popular games with well balanced weapons and gameplay. I think as cheaper titles like this, they'd sell very well with a facelift. It worked for Counter Strike with Source, and now Battlefield 1942.

There's a Quake 3 Arcade game coming, which seems like a port of the DC version. But there's also Quake Live, which is completely free and will probably run on your toaster. No idea if the XBL Q3 game will be slowed down to account for gimped controls.

Well after about 6 hours of playing BF:1943 I had my first total system lockup. I figured that must have been an Xbox 360 only issue but apparently not. Co-incidentally, I also had my first "match does not exist" error so looks like the PS3 servers are starting to get overloaded as well maybe?

Anyone know the exact rules as to when you can eject from a plane? This last round of playing I did it once but I have hit "x" lots of other times while flying and not been able to eject.

Cheers

Repi,
One thing I don't like is that each time I play BF 1943, it asks me which storage device to use (even though I only have one - the HD). Seems a wasted step given that the game will only be played from the HD. Can't the game remember what storage device I chose last time and use that unless I tell it otherwise?

I didn't know you could eject I just hit "o" to get out then "x" to deploy a shoot, but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Viewed the demo last night and we were getting all enthusiastic. It's set to allow us to form a posse and keep together with Party Spawn, and communicate with private party chat. Just about given over to buying the game when the subject of servers came up. In the demo there's only a Quick Launch option. What are the game setup/find options like? Can we deliberately get into a server with enough space for our team, or must we jump from one game to another in the hopes we'll all fit?

played 6 hours last night on PS3, not a problem. Onlybad sense of opportunity :D lol

The sound is amazing, just like bad company. The graphics are okish. To much aliasing. Frame rate holds up but with some tearing.

The duashock feedback is awesome. Its the one thing I'm going to miss in the PC version.

I just hope you keep working on 1943 and add a free map or 2 along the way, that will keep the game selling and the community alive.. while we "wait" for BF Vietnam.

On the 360 you can form a squad before launching into a match together. On the main menu, right below "Quick Match", there is an option that says something like, "PLay a squad match with friends." You invite everybody in and then you find a game. It seems to be having some problems with the matchmaking though where one person will get into the game and another won't. Not sure if this option is available on the PS3, but I think it should be. It is independent of the 360s party system. Call of Duty 4 did the same thing.

vanishing C4 bug

I've been playing almost exclusively as a sniper lately and noticed that there seems to be some sort of bug affecting C4 placement.

Sporadically, placed C4 just disappears - you see the initial animation of it being placed but then instead of sticking to a tank or appearing on the ground it just vanishes and hitting R1 has no effect. It would not be so bad if it did not actually use up ammo but unfortunately it still does. I haven't found any pattern to it other than it happening when I least want it to.

=)

Hopefully this gets patched soon.

Cheers

yes I lost many chances to defend the base because the C4 doesn't really stay there or it simply doesn't explode
