[360, PS3] BF:BC2 and BF 1943 online

In a bit of irony, the PSN version has been working fine since release and the Live version is still having issue according to the post at Gaf.

I'm DLing the demo now.

Played a few hours, worked fine. I'm slightly disappointed, I was expecting something different for the infinite ammo. But wow, this is the most lone-wolf-friendly Battlefield ever, with regenning health and infinite magazines and no FF. Still fun, and I totally understand why they did it compared to BF:BC, but I'm not sure if I like it -- mostly because I'm not sure I like the conquest gametype and I'm not crazy about WW2 guns.

One thing I do like is the squad system. You can play alone, you can play with randoms, you can invite someone to your squad, you can leave your squad. It gives me high hopes for BF:BC2.

This game has locked up my PS3 twice already. Other than that the graphics are nice and colorful but in need of some serious AA. I'll probably get it for the PC again just for the AA and AF.

Shrug, I found the way the classes worked combined with the multiple control schemes really confusing. Reminded me of something like how Quake Wars works where as BF:BC is less technical. That was from spending a bit of time with the demo (not much as I immediately was turned off by it).

I have always sucked at Defender and Warhawk definitely was from that camp as far as control schemes go.

=)

Cheers

I played a little. It reminded me of Warhawk in the sense that my plane fell into the ocean right after it left the aircraft carrier  Aiight, no planes for me.

I thought the graphics was passable. Sneaked around the islands. I could tell there were many noobs since I killed them easily. Was hoping to find someone I know. How do I find out who killed/sniped me, and from where ?

Glad people like it! For those with problems, we are adding servers like crazy :) Way more downloads then what we expected / planned for.

There is also a very lively official forum here with discussions with the rest of the devs and the community about everything related to it.

I like the improvement in shooting mechanics over BF BC. There is a more solid feel in shooting someone. The engine is algo greatly improved ( PS3 version ) with better frame rate and no tearing. Is this a Frostbite engine 2.0 ?.

The game is pretty rough around the edges ( and I'm not just talking about the aliasing ) but it is still is a lot of fun. It's very similar in many ways to what I remember of the original 1942 games.

If this was a full price retail game or something, I would say it has too many bugs, lacks polish, and feels you are participating in a beta test. But for a $15 game I can forgive them. Still I hope they are working on making a solid patch or two for this game.

Tried the PS3 version last night - I guess the 30 minute demo really means you can play as long as you want in the first session even if you go over 30 minutes. And I found a server almost immediately.

Wasn't bad at all, no noticeable lag and graphics were decent for a console game. The aiming though, the horrible horrible gamepad aiming made me sad. The people on my server obviously never played the PC versions cause they sucked hard but I had a lot of fun. I have a feeling this is going to be very popular on the PC - very nice game to jump into for a few spare minutes. And the price is right!

I wish I'd play Bad Company while the game was still hot. I'm definitely getting Bad Company 2 now.

I think BC is one of those games with a healthy online community. I checked in a couple of months ago on PS3 and there were still plenty of games going on.

One thing I like about 1943 is that even though EA uses a separate authentication system, they allow us to reuse our PSN id and password. I wish MGO does this.

+1

I will pick this up I reckon when I get home tonight. Full servers = more fun. The only thing causing hesitation is my stupid wireless connection. When I went to DL the demo the estimated time was 718mins (although of course that fluctuated like mad thereafter).

It did give me a little bit of motion sickness and I died, not much, but when I did it happened very quickly. Guess my all guns blazing approach needs modification.

Unfortunately I did get a little bit of motion sickness and much prefer the gfx of Warhawk (sorry to keep mentioning it).

If I give it a few days I'm sure this'll be immense fun.

Yes, I can tell Warhawk has better visuals and tighter controls. But hey this is 15 bucks. :p

It also has one of the classic maps in all of multiplayer gaming: Wake Island. I can't say I ever really played 1942, but that map rivals the popularity of de_dust2.
