[360, PS3] BF:BC2 and BF 1943 online

God I'm terrible in the helicopter. Both times I've managed to be the pilot I crashed and burned 10 seconds after :-l

Vehicle controls are really my only complaint. The fire command seems to be different on every vehicle, and I don't see why it should be...

Im not a pilot too.
Hope the release client has a tutorial mode on flying heli could use a 101 class.

Good times. Such an awesome game when you play with people you know and work as a team. With 4man squads, you don't need to organize a large party either.

Just pre ordered with Amazon.

I can't wait for this game to come out. I want more maps! I'm having a blast playing the demo. With a good squad, you can really work teams over. Our squad domination seems to have carried over from 1943. If we're not in the top squad, we're usually in the running.

I'd also like to add that I find it very odd playing games with static environments now. It adds so much to the gameplay. And the explosions look incredibly awesome.

Yep, it was fun. I'm really starting to like the "Rush" game type, but I also want to try the old BF2 "Conquest" mode too.

I think DICE nailed it on the consoles this time. Good squads can really dominate, but it's also fun to "lone wolf" it as a sniper if none of your friends are on.

I am on the fence; infantry combat feels quick "smooshy" with poor feedback. It doesn't feel snappy and the feedback from hitting targets seems weak. Sniping is fine, but the machine guns just didn't feel right. Love the BF gameplay (although don't like Gold/rush much), the teams, vehicles, and the fact it is more open and there is destruction.

Played a match today in the demo, I didn't even bother switching classes and stuck to sniping the whole time. On the one hand, I didn't push forward much. On the other, I spent my time countersniping fools on hills. 25 kills, 4 deaths, over 15 headshots, all but one of each whilst carrying my bolt-action beauty. Game came down to the very last M-Com at the last location. So close. We lost, but I still felt damned good, had a hell of a time, and came in 4th with about 2400 points.

Probably far too many from spotting enemies. I spam that button like nobody's business.

Gotta say, hit detection feels a billion times better than Bad Company. I also really enjoy the amount of bullet drop. It ultimately makes it so rewarding to move to a new location, snipe a new target, and get a headshot first time. :devilish: Had this epic moment with another sniper where we were both lining up for headshots on each other, and I was a fraction of a second too late. On my next spawn, I returned the favor. Heh.

Tomorrow I'm gonna focus on the other classes. I'll leave the rest of recon to the final game.

I played the demo a little bit, and I know there are DICE developers on this forum, so here is a request:
Make the "lefty" controller scheme for vehicles the default scheme, and no I'm not a lefty. It is extremely disorienting to go from R1 for primary fire when you're on foot to L1 being primary fire when on a vehicle. It totally threw me off until I figured out how to change it. Similarly, grenade and melee should be switched but that's a more minor issue. People are ok with using L1 and L2 (or R1 and R2) at the same time on a PS3 controller, seriously.

Also, helicopter handling is pretty poor, GTA4 does it almost perfect.

Might just be your "controller". :p

Not really as I have been playing it a variety of ways. Some of the posters in this very thread expressed the same issues while in our party game.

Would anyone argue that the controls are as snappy/clean and visual feedback as other top notch shooters? As noted in our online time we all pretty much preferred BF2 and other modern shooters to how this feels. Definitely lacks some lethality. And it could be this simple: for all the IW bashing and feeding the fire by DICE, the end result has been some of the "hopes" PC gamers put on BC2 were dashed by the lack of most of the same tools and the facts are the facts: even dedicated servers can, and do, have lag. BF1943 was one of the worst rollouts of a game I have ever seen--EVER--with their constant issues. And while logging into servers for the demo is better than the 43 release issues with lag, team balancing, squad malfunctions (cannot join a game/squad has happened a number of times) and so forth persist. All that to say that just because they are rolling out dedicated servers doesn't translate into a great ping for every member. It may be that I am not getting very good pings to the EA servers and I am not making much contact, hence the feedback issue.

I know, I know, I killed someones kitten and I can hear the gnashing of teeth! :p

I would think it was just me, but others I have played with from B3D have expressed similar concerns.

Well, MW2 it ain't (in terms of shooting), but I think gameplay-wise BC2 is as close to the "feel" of BF2 as any console game so far. There's definitely more of that teamwork you say you love in BC2 than in MW2.

While I don't think it's too impressive graphically and the vehicle controls still aren't right, the shooting isn't too bad once you get used to it and I personally haven't experienced much lag.

IMO BC2 is DICE's best effort on consoles so far.
