Formula 1 - 2024 Season

Why wouldn't Ferrari provide for another team? Are they afraid a new team would beat them? It's not going to hurt Ferrari, just give them more money. Andretti has a 5 decades long relationship with Ferrari, I don't see them saying no. Andretti has said they aren't even talking to other potential providers.
They may not want to deal with logistics involved (they have facilities in UK and US and Ferrari is based in Maranello). It may not be very profitable unless Cadillac decides to buy more parts from them. Or, conversely, they may not want to sell anything beyond engine and Cadillac may be shopping for more than just PU. There's always a risk of another team being able to poach talent easier by having direct relationship with you team. And so on.

What I'm trying to say is that it's not like gaining customer for your engine is a full on positive (or even neutral) event. There are costs and risks involved, even if the customer brings you some cash (which Ferrari doesn't really need). Worth noting that UK facilities Andretti operates are across the street from Aston so it may be easier to find talent familiar with Mercedes engines (but it's unlikely Merc would provide given how many customers they already have).

crazy race, constructors still in play for mclaren and ferrari while red bull is out. bad news for the team, team members will lose bonuses and might lower morale even more.

That was crazy penalty for Norris there. Almost like they did it to ensure that there would be a dramatic finish

it was probably because of safety, remember jules bianchi died from his accident at suzuka in 2014 after not slowing down for yellow flags. that was the accident that ushered in the vsc

regarding the debris in qatar, it was poorly handled. there should have been a safety car leading them through the pit lane and the williams side mirror could have been picked up pretty quickly

do we know why niels wittich was fired? fia president is very insecure and prone to lashing out

That penalty wouldn't be needed if officials reacted to the mirror on the main straight before it became a problem. It was a clearly visible ticking bomb. Race Director is ultimately responsible for this mess. But incompetence likes incompetence so Ben Sulayem can only make things worse.

Lol what? Yellow flags and Norris didn't even lift, he was flat out the whole straight. That's a guaranteed penalty.
Sure, I’m not disputing that. The severity is very high. Higher than I thought could be possible. Like 5 or 10 seconds, sure. Pit to serve is 35 seconds, and only within 2 laps to complete the penalty. That’s part was wow. Straight up the worse penalty that can ever be given other than a DQ

Drive throughs used be a lot more common. I think it was a double waved yellow with zero mitigations as far as not lifting enough, bad timing or visibility. On the onboard the yellows were obvious but Lando just decided to give it fulls beans down the whole straight. As its a safety thing a heavy penalty is not that surprising. 5 or 10 seconds is OK for racing incidents but very light for ignoring safety rules. If ignoring a yellow is only 5 seconds you are bound to end up with drivers that might be stuck behind a car deciding this is a good chance to set themselves up for an overtake and just make that 5 seconds up by not being stuck anymore.

yeah i think the shock is because its so rare. it signals that you HAVE to slow down during double waved yellows or you will have your race ruined with a stop and go.

Doh! But not surprising given he's so young and high performance athlete.
They're also kinda niche beers - Especially for a teenager having his first drink.

Although he's probably had more fancy champagne than i have!
( even if it was just tipped on his head )

Thanks!

Charles Leclerc has been hit with a 10-place grid penalty for exceeding the number of energy stores allowed. This will be a bitter blow to Ferrari hopes in the constructors' battle with McLaren. Ferrari is currently 21 points behind McLaren.
