Sony PlayStation 5 Pro

Becouse the only way we can measure the 4070 to ps5pro is to run the games on same settings ignoring stuff like RT/PT frame gen and so on. So we only measure in a way that is very favorable to consoles. Can we measure how well ps5pro runs in fully PT Cyberpunk2077? So saying its 20% slower is true with the huge asterisk on the side.
DF did several videos painstakingly comparing the 2070S and 6700 to the regular PS5 at similar settings and resolutions and they landed in the same ballpark in most third-party titles. We've seen with Rich's comparison that unpatched games using boost mode get a 30-35% performance increase and up to 45% in patched games.

PS5 GPU: 1
PS5 Pro GPU: 1.3-1.45
RTX 4070: 1.6-1.8

Using those figures, the RTX 4070 will be 10% faster on the low end and 38% faster on the high end (very close to Alan Wake 2). Again, 10-20% in the real world, but I'd bet it will be closer to 15-20% most of the time. One thing I know is that you will rarely see 40% and above and will only see the Pro win in PS5 exclusives.

I find it rather shite that the devs of Callisto never integrated DLSS on PC (FSR 2 looks awful in this title) and yet they come out with a PS5Pro update about 2 years later. Priorities...

Speaking of the lack of attention for the PC version...

A Steam user posted in the Callisto Protocol forum that the PC version has poorer textures than the PS5/Pro. They supplied two screenshots, but they were with varying lighting conditions and as such wasn't a great comparison. Since I have both versions though, I tried to make as like-for-like as I could in the exact same position.

PS5 running in Quality mode, PC on a 3060 12GB, everything maxxed with RT, using FSR2 Quality, 4k output.

Looks like nothing to do with any potential Pro upgrades, the jacket is indeed bugged on the PC and has been since the start. My guess is that it's a missing detail/normal map, or they've futzed up their sorting order - the wool lining on the jacket always looks like plastic on the PC regardless of the light source position. I can never get it to look like it should as it does on the PS5, which is looking like an actual material and not plastic.

Every other texture seems the same as well*, leading me to believe this is a layering issue with that particular model. Oh well!

*- Of course who knows, they could have made this error with other models!

The PS5 Pro patch was 25GB and upgraded some/many of the textures. It's also worth mentioning that the newer textures were backported to the base PS5 version which now looks better than at launch.

You can see the difference in these videos:

Ah ha! Thanks, that would explain it. Ah well, would hope for these to be added back into the PC but have also been hoping for DLSS for this game for a while, so not holding my breath.

That explains why the walkthrough of the PS5 version I compared to the PC version maxed out on my own PC showed the same quality textures.

I knew they went and touched some things up for the Pro, and makes sense that it also did the same for the PS5.

Sucks for the PC version, because I doubt Striking Distance Studios ever touches the PC version again.

I wonder though, it's UE4... couldn't people just mod these updated text ures in relatively easily?

PSSR needs to perform better if it’s going to justify that much of a hit. I’m curious if we get some sort of pssr roadmap from Sony next year.

Give it time, maybe it will become like dlss with the ps6 hardware and offload from the gpu while looking closer to something like dlss. Dlss needed some time too.

This is…interesting, from a dev at resetera. I don’t think anyone has reported on the ps5 pro version using hardware RT.

I wish we should always label RT been either software or hardware as there is such a big gap of quality between those 2. Most of those UE5 games on consoles do not use hardware RT.

It sure as hell doesn’t look like it.

Why bother with hardware Lumen if it's going to be so low-quality you might as well go with software and save on performance?

Resolution Metrics for Dynasty Warriors Origins Demo on PS5 PRO

Prioritize Graphics dynamic 1620p ~ 1800p at 60fps
Prioritize Performance is fixed 1440p at 60pfs (i think you get more Performance when you toggle 120fps)
Native 4K is mostly around 50fps ( a little bit more or a little bit less)

This guy is the future of game analysis. he is the best with real-time Frame-time, FPS, resolution and min/max and average stats.

EDIT: he also shows power consumption in his latest videos ! PS5 Pro consumes up to 252W (and often at 240W) in F1 24. 233W max in Dynasty warriors: origins Demo. I was expecting max 250W (launch PS5 consumes max 230W), we could see games consuming 260W later.
