Formula 1 - 2017 Season

The 24 Hours of Lemans is a weird race. If your car is too fast for its class, you get assigned penalties in an attempt to make it the same speed as the slower cars in the class.

SB

That only applies to the GT class I think and it makes sense there as its supposed to be affordable. If manufacturers and competitors would have to design/buy new cars every year it won't take long before it turns into a slower LMP1 where you only have two manufacturers.

Haha nice going Vettel, drive Hamilton of the road!
They should have been both blackflagged tbh.
Vettel for the intentional bump and Hamilton for the braketest (for whatever reason Sky at least is avoiding on showing the replays that had graphics per driver on top, which showed Hamilton to first accelerate mid corner just a bit but then lift and have his foot on brake the whole time, it was shown once during red flag)
edit: waiting for confirmation (aka video) but someone said that the graphics said Hamilton went from around 90 kph to 50 kph when the car was supposed to start accelerating out from corner

But insanely eventful race, shame with all the bad luck on Kimi, first Bottas decided to spearhead and jump straight to his side from kerb even though he had room to avoid it, then driving as well as you could on broken car you get hit by debris from others crashing each other ripping your rear tire which breaks the car (even though they stitched it together during red flag, being lap behind and no new SCs meant he wouldn't have chance anymore

Stange, the footage clearly shows, hamilton braking, and the revs being steady after the initial slowing dowb, but we all know where you will go with it.

In any case, Hamilton wasnt accellerating as the safety car was just in front of him. It's not Hamiltons' fault Vettel was driving like a tit.

As the first car it's Hamiltons perogitive to drive at the speed he wants, not the speed Vettel wants, as it happens, he clearly wasn't doing anything other than creating space between himself and the safety car and vettel drove into the back of him.

Case closed, however differently you will dream it happened tonight.

Right in front? The safety car is already halfway through the next straight when they hit

Which as you know it's nowhere near car enough away not to be caught. The safety car is clearly visible and not that far ahead when vettel drove into the back of him. But again reason is not something to employ with you when Hamilton's involved may as well just ignore you and let you believe you're right.

"Alternative facts" yet they still state Hamilton slowed from ~90 to 40 kph mid corner when you're supposed to accelerate

No Ferrari claim that and even so Hamilton can do what he likes. He clearly didn't break test vettel though. As can be seen from the onboard with graphics that were shown he didn't break as he was leaving the corner as they claim. Vettel just showed his poor race craft and lack of common sense. The only reason they aren't really saying anything about it is probably because whiting told them not to as part of the deal that saw him it get a 10 second penalty instead of disqualified.

Turn 15 coming up to 16 where Hamilton effectively becomes the safety car, silly mistake from Vettel which turned into... road rage from Vettel.

Thanks to a wayward headrest he still managed to extend his lead into delusional lalaland.

Really Vettel has been geting too much flack over this.. He's a racing driver, he got pissed because of an annoying racing indicident (pretty sure on the spot he believed HAM did what he did intentionally, regardless of wether that's true or not), acted on it, got punished.

He's won 4 world championships, he's one of the most accomplished drivers on the fied, it's not as if he was going to do damage with that touch.

He should get punnished of course, as otherwise it would encourage him/others to repeat it.

It is a telling insight into his character. Take this with what happened in Mexico 2016 when he went crazy on the radio and swore at Charlie Whiting. After the race Vettel apologised profusely, but I think it is a good insight into Vettel. Remeber multi 21? Remember Webber and Vettel crashing in ... Turkey was it? Vettel is good but he maybe needs to talk to someone. Grosjean had to when he received a race ban after almost taking Alonso's head off at Spa (and that was after a string of accidents). Maldonado crashed into everything but he lost his drive before it could get really serious.

Exactly how is it telling anything? Her cursed at Charlie, so what? Lots of drivers curse on the radio and don't forget that cursing doesn't always sound as bad to non native English speakers as it does to native speakers. For example shit (the English word) is used in Dutch quite often without carrying a heavy load unlike in the US. Not saying cursing at Charlie or cursing in general is OK but they are busy driving, adrenaline is flowing and I can understand polite language is probably not the first thing on their minds when they feel they are getting penalized unfairly.

Same for multi 21. So he wanted to win and did so by being an ass. You don't become WDC by being nice. Perez didn't let his teammate through last race despite the team asking and in Baku they crashed into each other. Verstappen didn't let Sainz pass either despite the team asking etc. Schumacher dove clean into his opponents on two occasions in an attempt to win and if Rosberg ever opens up about it I'm sure Hamilton hasn't always been exactly nice/fair either.

Grosjean and Maldonado are totally different as those two just crashed into anyone and everything by themselves.
