C'mon it is not a miracle. Nintendo is an established well known brand with a massive existing following. Nintendo are a far bigger brand than Kim Kardashian is.
Debatable but irrelevant. Having a following and being able to commercialise that following are very different things. I still follow what Nintendo do but they've made no revenue from me for almost two years.

They've made $0 revenue from me over their entire company existance.
Sure I had a nes and snes and a few games but those were all bought second hand.
Sure I bought my niece and nephew a Wii, but that was bought second hand as were all the games too.

You can't be sure of that! What if the guys bought Nintendo goods with the money you gave them? Wow 3 consoles + games that's a lot of revenue Nintendo indirectly made from you! ;)

Kim hasn't gotten any of my money either but I think we can all agree her controller is quite a bit larger than anything Nintendo has ever produced, not sure which had motion controls first though.... :runaway:

You contributed to the 2nd-hand market of the platform, which increases its value. Something that can be sold 2nd-hand is worth more than something that can't.
More people bought Nintendo hardware/software because they knew they could sell it afterwards to people like you, and amortize the initial investment.

So directly or indirectly, you did contibute to their revenue.

None of the people who sold the Nintendo hardware and software to me ever bought it originally because they knew they could resell it. They wanted to get ride of their junk collecting dust and be able to have a smoke and some food from cleaning up.

Yes but even weed dealers play videogames.

So how come Kardashian pulled in money at roughly ten times the rate, if Nintendo is far bigger and well-known a brand? It can't be that Kim K is such an awesome game designer that she out-designed a company with a generation-and-a-half's worth of experience in the field?

Or maybe Nintendo simply didn't want to earn money with their first smartphone app. They did it deliberately! Yes, that must be it.
There many reasons why Kim K could have pulled in money faster initially. This is only Nintendo's first app, it's uncharted territory for them and it has not been marketed as heavily. Miitomo may have longer legs and start to pull in more cash in the long term as they expand the content. But the fact is Nintendo are a bigger, more recognised and more culturally relevant brand world wide.

And irrelevant, as I mentioned, because just because you KNOW of something doesn't mean it makes you more likely to buy their stuff.

Coca-Cola is undoubtedly a more well-known brand than Nintendo. Would you necessarily buy a Coca-Cola-branded portable gaming device though?

Nintendo has a well established market profile - kiddie; "family friendly", shit like that. You think that is a priority, or an advantage, amongst the Kardashian crowd?

This is turning into one of those bizarre conversations. Why would Nintendo want to appeal to the Kardashian crowd? The question is whether Nintendo can monetise their customers/fans, not someone else's. their first Mobile offering isn't making as much money as other products, but it's early days. For comparison, is Clash of Clans a bigger brand than Kardashian, just because it makes more money and is played by more people?

Kim Kardashian really has nothing to do with this whatsoever!

Nintendo does't get it. Its all about the bootie. Wait till they monetise the princes's peaches and that kim kad fanbase will all flock into mii moto's app.

Not the Kardashian crowd specifically - more like young people of today in general. Unless you're buying games for your toddler up to say, ten-year-old, Nintendo's overall profile isn't very in step with the times. We can just look at the wuu for a demonstration of that; while Nintendo still has games people care about, they clearly don't care enough about them to buy a Nintendo console that basically only runs Nintendo(-style) titles.
