First Star Trek XI Trailer

Sorry I misunderstood you. Yeah same thing here. I wonder if they turn more on as the launch date approaches?

Like I mentioned earlier after you tune the 3 monitors to 100% the offline monitor will flash a picture of a empty hallway aboard the ship. It takes a few minutes before it will do it though, but it will give a sound right before it shows it.

Ah nice one man!

Very cool teaser!

I really like the look of the original Enterprise when its rendered with high quality CG, which seems to communicate a darker nature for this Trek film. For the sake of this movie I really hope they reduce the amount of techno-bable, and focus on making a good Sci-Fi movie that while doing service to the Star Trek name does not get too caught up in following all of that continuity/cannon bullshit that fanboys always get so worked up over.

Thread necromancy!

Well, its been awhile since anybody has posted in this thread despite the release of a major theatrical trailer, and the recent Superbowl commercial so I figured I would revive it to see what peoples current thoughts on the movie are.

J.J. and crew seem to have done a wonderful job marketing the movie so far, and although the trailers have been brief, they have left the trek nerd inside me salivating for more. The design of the ships looks phenomenal, and the CG overall looks worthy of a major budget Sci-Fi movie (defiantly better than that made for TV grade crap we used to get) which is necessary to attract the general movie going audience. I think Kirk and crew seem to be well cast, but only after I have watched the movie will I be able to make my final judgment on how they measure up to the original cast.

The biggest question facing this movie is will it be able to attract and audience beyond the usual hard-core trekkies and the casual trek fans. So far the media previews have been positive, and the Superbowl commercial received decent ratings next to its competitors. My hope is that not only does the movie generate interest among the general public, but also manages to be a great Sci-Fi movie overall.

I'm still not sure tbh. It looks like a good film and its nice to see the real Spock making an appearance but it still looks like its warping the original Startrek into something a bit decadent.

If there's one thing I can't stand in a Star Trek movie (or TV series), its sex. Thats what porn films are for!

People aren't allowed to f*ck in the 24th century? Why was Kirk's character such a womanizer then?

They're allowed, I just don't wanna see it in Star Trek. Sex is rarely portrayed on screen for anything more than a cheap ratings boost and ST should be above that kind of thing IMO (which is one of the reasons I couldn't stand Enterprise, or 7 of 9's jump suite.)

Kirk was a womanizer but we never saw him in an actual sex scene. It was enough in the original series to simply imply that he was about to do it with some alien chick which was always part of either the storys or the characters development.

I won't write off the new films scene to soon, there is the very rare occasion when a sex scene can add real substance to the story (Battlestar Galactica being one notable example IMO). but I hold out very little hope for that being the case here.

I don't get why they seem to be building the Enterprise (?) on Earth (?)

Space battle bits are looking spectacular but I expect there will be only about 2secs of it that haven't been shown already...

Wasn't the Enterprise built in the San Fransico ship yards?
