@davygee and at that point ms continues to fall behind, or even falls behind faster.
this is my problem with just a slim, it either needs to be substantially cheaper, or add additional power, be upgradable, something, I don't think hdr and 4k streaming is enough.
slims worked before, but the consoles were considered to be successful anyway, was just making them 'nicer'
Not sure why anyone expected the slim to have improved specs.

It's kinda weird how they are adding the 4K video thing. I mean you can buy cheaper 4K android TV products. And the gaming aspect of the 4K output is kinda irrelevant because not sure how good those 720p/900p games will look on a 4K display..

It's same price. I do no see anything "Strong and aggressive".Xbox Slim will be $299 as starting price in US.
Strong and aggressive move that will surely move units especially in US.
720p/900p games won't look any worse on a 4k display than 1080p display. The scaling would be identical.
If it has 4k bluray with hdr, it could make for a nice little media box with gaming capabilities.
I dunno something about gaming at 720p/900p on a 4K display just bothers me...makes it hard to justify buying a 4K display for this particular piece of hardware.

Definitely controlled leaks happening. All part of the game/showmanship in the internet era.

I run GTA V on 'Very High' settings at 4K at 60fps. Apologies if I'm doing something wrong.I don't get this talk of "4K gaming" considering you can't game at 4k on any of the latest PC GPU's that retail for $500-$800, what makes anybody think either the MS or Sony product would be able to do so?
I've got to agree, and what dev is supporting it with content? In the end we're still a ways away from it if not longer. My guess is Devs would rather make prettier pixels than double them at this point (though imo HDR seems to be worth the 4k alone but then you don't need 4k content for that).I don't get this talk of "4K gaming" considering you can't game at 4k on any of the latest PC GPU's that retail for $500-$800, what makes anybody think either the MS or Sony product would be able to do so?
I dunno If i was going to play games on a 4K display I'd want min rendering at 1080p. Maybe I'm a little OCDish about it.I don't get this talk of "4K gaming" considering you can't game at 4k on any of the latest PC GPU's that retail for $500-$800, what makes anybody think either the MS or Sony product would be able to do so?
The 4K is obviously just about video playback, not about gaming. Considering that neither the PS4 nor the XB1 currently allow for 4K streaming (because of their non-complaint video ports), it makes sense to simply upgrade to a compliant port and sell it as an added feature as part of this refresh. As you mentioned previously, there are many smaller and cheaper devices out there that provide for 4K streaming - so there is no "power" issue with either the PS4 or the XB1 in terms of 4K streaming.
