In 2001, when the Xbox launched, Microsoft sent approximately 500,000 units into the US retail channel. It sold about 1.4 million units through the calendar year.

This time, Microsoft is readying 2 to 3 million 360 consoles for launch in November, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Wow they are launching with 4-6 times the amount of units as last time .

This article never says its 3m for the na market . It just says launching with 3 million. So i dunno


Anyway as for preordering u might want to , we have alot of preorders at the store and gamestop isn't even sure if they can guarntee people reserveing and getting them in the third shipment

Not really. Most stores around my area (Gamestop, EB, etc.) are already on their third allotment.

im not pre-ordering, ill get the 360 after the buzz in maybe a couple weeks after launch, if none are available then i can wait longer. the xbox360 isnt something im dying to get. it would be nice, but im just not in a rush to get it. the ps3 on the other hand, ill be waiting in line for if neccessary

january adn febuary would most likely be your best bet to just go in and pick up . Figure with xmass and launch it will be hard to find in november -december and then in march gow should hit and that should make the system sell extremely well again in that lull period of bad sales that often happens in that time frame

yeah maybe, by march/spring season ill be ready for the ps3(thats if they do the NA launch in spring ) though so maybe in january.

its not that i dont like the xbox360, just not in a rush to go get it.

Personaly i wont buy the ps3 till hit hits under 200$ . So i don't see ap roblem waiting for either of them

About 2-2.5 million if you are talking about launch day only, and every market where it's sold. But you are talking about including tiny markets like Singapore that didn't even get 100k consoles for launch. It's not much, but it adds up.

If you limit it to North America, Europe, and Japan, it's somewhere around 1.2 million or so for launch day.
