That would really surprise me (ok, not in Nintendo's case).
I think MS is going the right way with the parental control. It's only a matter of time.
When gaming goes really mainstream, there's no way they're gonna stop it.

I think that the problem MS/Sony face is that they have no plausible deniability. It's tough to blame anyone other than the porn industry for porn, because they don't really need anyone to sanction it. console development so far, is extremely restricted. You can't really develop a professional console game without the blessing of Microsoft/Sony/etc. If these kinds of titles ever come out, it will only be because those companies allowed it (and in many people's minds that means they endorse it). If they had an open platform like the PC, they could just say that they have no control over what other people write.
I guess they will either have to give up control, not endorse those kinds of entertainment, or deal with whatever stigma they get if they condone X or XXX rated material. Personally I'm guessing they'll just not allow X or XXX rated material on the system.

As far as I'm aware, Sony has long since crossed the AO rating line. Though, as far as I'm aware only in Japan. Most of them are H-games or gravure, so while AO content isn't "real" for H-games the gravure are, though not really AO. Anyway, the point is Sony has long since burnt that bridge and nothing bad has happened. In fact, I think Sony even publishes a lot of the gravure.
I think I remember seeing a slightly blue ad in a Commodore 64 magazine way back. Dunno why it's stayed with me...
If the PSP is gonna get UMD porn, why not go the whole hog?? Policing distribution is always likely to be the problem. I can see the headlines now as unscrupulous dev's & publisher's take advantage. Publishing titillating, cheap games. I bet they'd sell as well. Never underestimate the draw of boobies. Of course that is dependent on if MS, Sony &, God forbid, Nintendo ever allowed it.

AFAIK even in Japan, where hentai visual novels are quite popular console makers do not allow these on their hardware. Some of the most popular ones (To Heart) have been ported to console, but in that case all hardcore is removed.
Do not know the actual reasoning behind it - maybe console makers want to keep 'family friendly' image of the machines for parents.
Another reason may well be, that contrary to popular opinion, XXX games have really small budgets and cannot afford console certificaton.

Something Japan already had to deal with as well. A lot of women were getting felt up on trains and subways, so they established some women only cars for those looking for a safer enviroment. I believe they've also done some similar things in parts of the US as well. Obviously, PSPs weren't the cause of the problem, but the point it is there's really nothing the PSP will add that one or other societies haven't had to deal with.
