WTF ?! Intel P35 support PCIe 2.0 ??

It could be as simple as later revisions of the chipset started coming with PCI-E 2.0 compliance without telling anyone. So P35-"A1" chips (the first revisions) went out to motherboard manufacturers without PCI-E 2.0 support, but later with a small update, P35-"A2" chips started going out that had support.

We already know that PCIE 1.x and 2.0 are pin-compatible from a card perspective, so I have to assume that they're also pin-compatible from a chipset-pad perspective too. Motherboard manufacturers therefore didn't have to change their design, unless of course they wanted to support PCI-E 2.0... And hell, Intel may not have told anyone until June / July anyway, just to make sure motherboard manufacturers didn't beat X38 to the punch...
