WOW 360 on HDTV for the first time

I am visiting a friend who has a 1080I tv and wow what a difference it makes. I was kind of disapointed in the 360 till now. Fight night is just jaw dropping on the TV and GRAW is out of this world. It is going to suck going back to my SDTV after this weekend. I can not wait till I can afford a decent HDTV. To bad any decent HDTV over 37 inches is over a 1000 dollars. It only took 5 minutes on the TV to sell a few friends on the 360.

yep

a buddy of mine was playing 360 on an SDTV for about a month and he said when he first hooked up his new HDTV, he nearly pissed his pants.

Quest, play on your monitor man. I can't say this enough, but letterbox is worth the price of admission for HD. And if you have a widescreen monitor, you're golden :)

I said the samething about the 360 when I played Fight Night 3 in Best Buy. I played Madden on the 360 at Best Buy this past week and realized how dumb I sounded months ago ragging on the lack of graphics.

Compared to Madden 06 on the PS2, Madden 06 on the 360 on a HDTV is a big jump. Even though I still want better animation.;)

Why not get a CRT HDTV? CRT HDTVs are good bang for your buck HDTVs. I have a Sony 30'' KV-30HS420 which cost me $800. A cousin bought two of them for his household when he saw mine. Love CRTs, i am not moving to any other display technology until SED comes out. Go to the AVS forum to research into this stuff.

I went to three different electrical goods superstores today to buy a new washing machine. I had a look at the TV sets selling there, and about 80% of the display space is devoted to HDTV sets and 20% to other TVs. I don't know about elsewhere, but here in UK the electrical outlets seem to think most people will buy HDTVs in future, and they are usually right about this sort of thing when they switch in such a big way.

HD satellite broadcast is already happening, but still no sets that are 1080p ready are on sale. I guess that will start soon when Bluray drives come on the market.

I like to play console games on a bigger tv. I am hoping to save up for a 37 inch lcd or a 46 inch projection tv on black friday. I am leaning to a 720p projection because I can't get any HD stations on my direct tv because of trees I figure a projection might be better at SDTV. No cable in the sticks.

We had a great time today taking turns on the crash mode on burn out for a few hours was a nice break from the lan party.

Everyone was pretty damn impressed with the 360 a few of them are seriously thinking about getting one now.

Save that thought for the HDTV vs. SDTV arguements here at B3D.;)

I bought a 47" CRT HDTV for $999. CRT's are the best bang for the buck and size. And many can be found for under $1000. However I highly recommend getting DLP or LCD especially for gaming. DLP and LCD have a sharper image and won't look as blurry as a Rear projection crt. Plus you can run a pc on them at native resolution and not have to deal with overscan, blurry images etc...

For films this is totally reversed.

I saw NSFMW and Fight Night on an HDTV over at Best Buy. While I found myself immersed in it's visualy superiority over other consoles, I'll sooner saw my own legs off before I trade my monitor for a television of any sort.

My 42" plasma only weighs about 70 lbs, but like most people I don't have to carry my TV around very often so it doesn't really matter. ;)

Exactly, rear-projection CRTs are much lighter that direct view CRTs. Though my DLP is much, much lighter than even my previous rear-projection CRT by well over half. I love it when I need to pull my 62'' tv away from the wall to get at a cable and I just one-hand it.

My 36 inch triniton, meanwhile, requires 2 guys to move it, each simultaneously generating hernias. It's quite painful.

wheels are a beautiful thing ;)
You mean the ones that embed into the carpeting and precariously tip the TV on end while you instantaneously calculate the damage soon to be caused by slamming your TV straight down into the floor? (Of course, my cat-like reflexes take over and I always save the tv at the last moment...)

To take this back on topic though, I got my girlfriend hooked on the Xbox 360 a while back, primarily with Xbox Live Arcade and Zuma. Finally she broke down and bought her own console the other day. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a HD set, so after I set it up with her 35'' tv she was really disappointed. Now she's on the lookout for a reasonably priced HD set. All so she can play a $10 Xbox Live arcade game.
